Who is better, Messi or Agüero?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

That's it in a nutshell really.

Sergio is a great player and there is no shame in admitting Messi is on another level.

Worst discussion ever.

I had more hope for this thread but it seems it was wasted on you fucktards.

I have a curvy spine.

But if he had a Herman Munster head like tevez, we wouldn't even be having this discussion....half of the allure of Aguero is that he looks the part of the superstar, beyond that Tevez was a far better player when not on the golf course

Golf courses of course have to be weighed in when measuring players through history. Had Tevez not been such an idiot etc etc.

Messi is outrageous in all stats. Has won all there is to win for his club and as an individual. As much as Aguero is the Premier leagues best striker at the minute he isn't as good. Simple as that, and there's no shame in that as Messi is probably in the top three or four to have played the game ever.

If it wasn't for his injury record he could be up there with the very best.

Surprised by the adulation Tevez has got in this thread, cracking player but really no better than Aguero.

So though all the threads and most of the posts about the game tonight are about the refs and their partiality and how we get cards and free kicks awarded against us by merely looking at Barcelona players don't weigh in at all when talking about the extent of Messi's qualities? Pelé got fuck all protection from refs as far as I've heard and read, for example. I accept that I might be alone in the opinion that Agüero is beginning to reach the level of Messi and similar star players but I'm in a bit of disbelief because of the disbelief the OP was met with. Well well, it is what it is.

To get a discussion going that people are at least willing to engage in, how do you rate Messi historically? Compared to for example Di Stéfano, Puskas, Pelé, Maradona, Zidane? John68, you're a bit older than Puskas and Di Stéfano, what where they like?

You know how you can't read anything from stats?

Di Stefano scored in 5 consecutive European Cup finals, Real won all five.

Read into that what you will.

If Agüero could stay injury free two or three seasons, he would surely break few world records.

if you mixed Silva with Aguero you might just get the genius that is Messi... just look at him in this game.

Its fucking embarrassing to suggest otherwise. Probably the best dribbler in the world, best passer, best finisher, best first touch and best playmaker.

I can think of tons of things that actually are embarrasing. Having a football discussion and testing some thoughts with other people who's football opinion you value, I.E. you guys, not so embarrassing :).

Fair enough, but why aren't you calling someone something derogatory?
