I love the way he mentions he's not allowed to talk about Pellers in relation to another club both before and after he talks about Pellers in relation to another club.

Worthwhile. Denayer in as fourth cent half poss and Boyata out seems to be the sentiment here. As Id rather nail my testicles to a plank of wood than watch Glasgow Celtic play, I assume hes done well for them in the SPL and Europa League? I genuinely haven't seen nearly enough of the kid to have an opinion on his abilities.

Premier League is obviously a huge jump, but Denayer is one serious prospect.

His Celtic loan has been fantastic. He is basically playing exactly the way Pellegrini would want a cb to play. Deila is a proper football manager & has somehow got Celtic playing pass & move football, with the accent on attack. But often away from home it's v very motivated opposition, on horrible pitches. So when an attack breaks down, Denayer can find the ball flying over his shoulder with some ginger nutcase charging after him & it's bobbling around all over the shop. He just controls it first time every time & sorts it out. He is learning how to deal with aerial bombardment, phyical stuff, high tempo agression, then he's played at he San Siro, with his cb partner red carded early doors. Regularly playing in front of big crowds, never once bottled anything. Our cbs have regularly fucked up in the same circumstances.

Denayer is a great defender, & a terrific footballer. Only question is his size for a Prem cb. But I think he will overcome that. If not, he can have Zabba's job, or Fernando's. I recon he'd be better than either given 6 months.

Nothing is settled on that, win the next games, win the league, great and hats off. fade away and a horrible end of the season, he is gone along with a few players.

possibly. hard to see who would come in to replace the engineer this close season. simeone does not seem like one to fit into our "holistic" approach. next close season a managerial change seems more realistic, and in terms of meeting the board's expectations, if we win nothing it would still average out to 2 trophies in 2 years.

more likely we see one or two key players moving on, and i also think that changing the manager again could send a bad message to future managers. some players have had more than enough time to show their value.

I think Pellers will delay his hols he had Isco imo that went pear shaped, he has major surgery to do and will I hope get the chance, that though might just be the big problem in getting this squad to run harder and faster to squeeze Jose and the babies until they cry.

I think he'll still be here next season - maybe he won't have as much of a say on exactly who comes into the squad in the summer though - just general input on positions that need attention.

Maybe we made him sign the deal just that we get a bigger fee for him in the summer? ;-)

A little conspiracy theory...

Maybe it has nothing to do with Peller's staying or not, but with Kompany. If the club has decided that it might be for the best to sell our captain (I'm not advocating this, mind), it would make sense to make sure that we had at least one experienced centre back still at the club in Demichelis, and one established CB partnership in Demi and Mangala.

I'm pretty certain a new top class CB would be bought if Kompany would be sold. But I still think it would be good to have one tried and tested pairing to fall back on at the start of the season.

It's surprisingly difficult to buy top class CBs. According to City's accounts, including agents fees, third party but out costs etc, Mangala cost nearly £40m. Kompany has had a tough season and looks like he needs a couple of months off, but he is the last defender I would sell. I also believe our club would not sell him either. He, above any other player in recent years, is City. Daft martin has done great after a dismal start but at 34 he is not one for the future. Mangala was poor at Porto and has been dreadful for us. If we are to be serious contenders in Europe then a Demi/Mangala partnership is unthinkable. It's like putting Jeremy Clarkson in a Ferrari and expecting him to win Formula One. IMO Kompany and ANOther are the future for City.

For what it's worth, I agree with all you say. I also want to keep Kompany and I do not think that the club has given Demi a contract extension because of plans to sell Kopmany on. I just wanted to present an alternative (albeit far fetched) theory to the one that says that the Demi contract means that Pellers is staying.

I don't know really. I always took it to be a term of affection though, probably related to the pony tail and one or two daft mistakes when he started.

MDM is a class player not the future, he can adapt better than any of the others, The team needs a structure to allow the CB whoever they are to not be exposed. John Terry, Skirtl are in systems that do not show them to be limited, that said a 36 yr old out jumped in the last min of extra time shows you can get done by nothing more than a younger player with a spring twice in a min. MDM should not be getting a new deal if we are honest it shows we are lacking. What we do not need is the likes of say an Ings getting 1 v 1 with Martin which is what I would want if I was Dyche.
