He will be a rag. No chance that we will sign him.

If he's available it would be a huge mistake not to make sure we are in for him.We desperately need a player like Bale who can offer a different dynamic, we slipped up not signing the like of Sanchez and Hazard when they were available and can't afford to do it again.

The last few windows we have failed to sign anyone who has made a major impact on the team, we can't allow this happen again in the summer. If we continue to thread water while the teams around us continue to trump us in the transfer market it ain't going to be pretty.

Agreed - we a short of someone in the hazard mold and as we've seen with chelsea it can be a difference maker to your season - However, I don't think we should throw crazy money at bale

Why? The team he played for in his best form ever when playing in england didnt win the league!!

He is not the messiah

Of course, he is only likely to sign for a team who are already in with a shout of winning the league. I hoped that the comment wouldn't be applied to also rans.

So he'll sign for either United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Us. The only teams capable of winning the league.

I'm not saying who he would choose over the other, but the one he does will win the league. Of course they might have won it without him.

As far as I am concerned if we dont want him, we should bid for him anyway to drive the price as high as possible for anyone else who is in for him

Scum throwing money at everything that moves. Wenger says at his Press Conference that he expects United to be very active in the market in this Summer's window. 'Every time I get offered someone I find that United are already on his case'.

But will they?

I read a viewpoint on here that considered that United have to decide whether to splash the cash for league wins, or to just stay in the top four for the Champions League money. The spending last year was needed to get back in the top four, but why would the Glazers want to win the league?

Interesting take, i am quoting the Mirror, but the informatios is quite real:

Barcelona chief admits Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar could LEAVE over wage demands

The superstar trio have fired the Blaugrana to the Champions League final but Javier Faus believes that the likes of Chelsea and PSG can now offer more money

The Barcelona trio have been in stunning form since the turn of the year
Barcelona could lose Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar because of their wage demands, claims club economic vice-president Javier Faus.

The trio have been in sparkling form since the turn of the year firing the Blaugrana all the way to the Champions League final in Berlin.

But with the financial landscape in European football changing Faus believes the likes of Chelsea or PSG have the economic power to persuade one of the superstar threesome to leave the Nou Camp.

GettyLionel Messi scores a wonder goal against Bayern MunichMessi business: The Argentine superstar has tangled with Faus before
"We can no longer pay the most in terms of wages," Faus told German newspaper Handelsblatt. "That's now Chelsea and PSG.

"You have to understand that players [in Spain] always compare their net pay to those of the Premier League or the Bundesliga, who have pushed costs up dramatically.

"It will be a challenge but we want to avoid letting Messi, Neymar or Suarez go ... but, if a club has the potential to take them away because of their chequebook, then they will go.

Suarez has been in explosive form in recent months
"The players have a very short career and are entitled to charge what other clubs can pay for their services."

Faus infamously fell out with star man Messi last winter over the Argentine's alleged contract demands.

But he now says the pair have ironed out the differences in their working relationship.

Shaun BotterillBarcelona v Bayern MunichNey bother: Two goals from the Brazilian sealed Barca's path to Berlin
"Messi is right: I do not understand football," he added. "It was just a misunderstanding that we clarified with his father and him.

"Then, we agreed a new contract and now we have a kind of partnership: we help him increase his market value and he helps us to protect the Barca brand."

I have a feeling Glazers will spend big again this summer, make them title challengers (which should ensure CL places for the next few seasons), drive up sponsorship money again and after that they will just pocket the extra income themselves.

My bat sense is tingling - sounds like code for an image rights scam to avoid raw wages. The kind of thing the rags did when that drunken bastard claimed he was advising players on their tax situation.

Agreed, but maybe not as big as all the stupid money they threw about last summer. Glazers' history does not suggest an all-out financial assault being the regular thing.

With the utterly abject failure of the red dippers and Spuds to stay relevant, I tend to wonder if there will be any outside challengers to the top 4 next year beyond the usual suspects.

In a way I would not mind Bale going to the Trafford filth, as that would probably constitute most of their spending for the summer. And adding him just to toss it in to bogbrush head seems a questionable use of the 50+ million.

That crossed my mind. If United get him but have to sell De Gea to fund it (because they need to strengthen elsewhere also) then what he will give them will be cancelled out by how many they let in at the other end.

Erm just to throw one in about the rags .......

There defence is a fucking shambles and they are about to lose one of the Premier Leagues best goal keepers , why on earth do they need to spend stupid on Bale when it's defenders and possibly a keeper they need to replace ? Fuck em !

He has a really really really shit hairstyle. I wouldn't want him solely for the fact that I would have to see it every time in in the blue shirt!

Positivity.

It's what City were trying to do with Hughes & are attempting to do again now with Pellegrini. Of course they need a defence, but they know that big clubs often rely on the fear factor in order to get results. Not tactically but psychologically. They have that . We don't. But we have got closer.

If Bale signs for Utd, more teams will miss chances against them anyway, due to bottling it. Most of DeGea's saves, Jim Leighton would have made if the game was Partick Thistle v Kilmarnock.

Agree with this. Even to a point of agreeing a fee but making sure we dont offer the right wages, so the rags pay over the odds. Of course, if we were to get him at a knockdown fee, that would be very acceptable

That and season ticket sales Ted , rag season revenue reportedly down around £30 million today (prob more) so they always come up with this PR bullshit when things arent going too well ;-)
