Basically i like heart on their sleeves managers.

This.
You got to love anyone truly breathing the game.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

City wise for me it has to be Sven. I really loved that first half of his season, although sitting through the latter part of psycho's reign might have made me look at it through rose tinted glasses.

As for non City, it's got to be Cloughie.

I'd go with Bobby Robson. I thought he had class also.
For City I'd say Tony Book, because I met the man and he is pure class also. A real gentleman and has done everything at the club.

City - for me it can only be Joe Mercer, although Keegan was waywardly exciting. I also liked Mel Machin and thought he was dismissed a little unfairly.

Non City - either Frank Rijkaard or Cesar Luis Menotti.

City - Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini. I really wanted Brian Horton to stay as well. Backward with Franny. To be honest, I would have given El Mel Machin a few months more too.

Non-City - Sir Bobby Robson and Brian Clough, OBE.

I may have come to the realisation that he's a cnut of an individual but I STILL haven't seen anyone who can have as big an effect on his team as Mourinho (including that drunken red nosed old fucler that retired fairly recently).

Did all three things any one of which makes you a great manager. Put a club on the map (Ajax, (not to mention what he did with The Nertherlands)); Won trophies (3 European Cups in a row, for example), and changed the way people look at the game thanks to his tactical innovations (total football). Jobs a good 'un.

I was asking because of that argument, regarding Ajax and i was curious on your view. From what i noticed there are two sides, people saying that Michels built that Ajax, others say that Stefan Kovacs did.

I asked Cruyff about this and he credited Michels. If you've read 'Brilliant Orange' you'll know that there is an argument to say that a former City reserve team player from 1902 could be credited with the idea of total football.

Fantastic book.
