I'll see your Frank Clark as manager, and raise you one Steve Coppell.

I felt a bit sorry for Phil Neal. He only took the job when Coppell did one and dropped him in the shit. The club was on a hiding to nothing at the time and he did his best under tough circumstances, much like Asa Hartford.

The initial bounce we had under Clark at the end of 96/97 was impressive but what he was trying to achieve in 97/98 is anyone's guess. The most abysmal few months of my City-supporting life. Shite players all playing out of position while a second-rate Mike Bassett just looked on bewildered.

I find myself having to nominate Barry Silkman. very disappointing after all the hype from himself and Malcolm Allison.

Whoever said Stuart Lee, yes. And Paul Sugrue. Maybe Tony Cunningham as well, although he did well at West Brom if memory serves.

Some of the jocks brought down by Billy McNeill were perhaps legends in their homeland, but Gordon Dalziel, Dominic Sullivan and Duncan Davidson were not quite up to standard.

Steve Daley.

Big Mal offered £400k. Swales paid £1.4 mill.

Bryan Robson had just left WBA for less.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Without double checking, did Daley not come in 1979 with Robson going to rags in 1981? Could be very wrong.

No, you're bang on. It's the article i read that's talking bollox. Daley had long gone when Robson left WBA for £1.5 mill.

Does show what a complete waste of fuckin money Daley was though. At that time Robson was probably still a good player who would have probably cost a third of what Daley did. Look his his career panned out as well. Swales at his very worst. The money spent then on Daley, Reeves and Francis set us back at least a decade, if not longer

Talking of managers there's one or two others to be added, but don't want to speak ill of the dead.
