Agree completely, some have written him off, maybe they are correct, but I hope he proves them wrong.

I don't give a monkey's that he can't play for Belgium, although I can see that it's a bummer for him.

Get him fit. Find the best doctor you can, no matter how long it takes. Wait until Christmas or into the New Year if needs be.

If he can't get fit, he needs to retire and get on with his life.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

From The Guardian:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... -of-season?

Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany expected to miss start of new season

Jamie Jackson

Vincent Kompany’s thigh injury is expected to keep him out for four months meaning Manchester City’s captain will miss the start of next season under the club’s new coach, Pep Guardiola.

However Lieven Maesschalck, the Belgium team doctor, claims the 30-year-old could still play on for five more years if he recovers fully.

Kompany suffered the problem in the opening minutes of City’s 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Bernabéu last Wednesday. The central defender is ruled out of Belgium’s Euro 2016 campaign, which starts in June, and now is set to be unavailable for Guardiola when the 2016-17 season starts.

While the Spaniard replaces Manuel Pellegrini on 1 July, Kompany faces a long summer of rehabilitation from what is a 33rd injury of his eight years at the club.

His troubled history and the length he will be out may threaten his long-term future at the club.

According to Maesschalck, Kompany may not return until the end of August. “I’ve seen Kompany [last] Thursday. It was very clear: he has a complete tear of the slender thigh muscle,” he told the country’s Radio 1. “It will take about four months to get match fit again. How bad it is, Vincent must now look forward to next season. It was inevitable, he had no choice. The decision is final.

“Kompany was obviously very disappointed. For him, everything [is] Belgium. He wanted to do everything to be there at the European Championships. The body of Kompany is under enormous pressure, the time pressure is always there and he is very demanding of himself. On the other hand, it is phenomenal how he deals with the disillusionment. He draws all courage for the next chapter. I’m sure he’ll be back. Now he has the opportunity to rest and recover his body well.”

Maesschalck is clear Kompany can still look forward to many more years playing at the highest level. “I’m 100% sure he can handle it effectively,” he said. “Kompany sets himself always in a positive way. It is a privilege to work with such a personality. Vincent has been playing 16 years at the top level. [Marc] Wilmots [national coach] has also often been injured and always returned to the highest level.

“In the NBA, I have seen the same thing many times. This does not mean the end of the career of Kompany. He needs only one match to get back at the top level. A winner if he can handle it. And he still can compete at the highest level for at least five years.”

Pep will most probably plan for life without Kompany from this summer onwards.

Which would be the most sensible course to take - if Kompany gets fit again then he will be on the bench, unless the incoming defensive players are not up to scratch. I just cannot see the manager planning life with Kompany as an important cog in the engine.

Whilst I stand by my view that he should have been sold last summer in the best interests of the football club, I wish him all the best and desperately hope he can sort it and that we get to see him play competitively again whether with us or at a lower level if necessary.

There's no way that he can. A real shame as Vinny is a true legend and the best captain I have seen (Andy Morrison runs him close) at City. You can't have such reliance on a player when he is liable to break down at any minute. I read somewhere that he has spent 1000 days in hospital during his 13 years as a professional footballer. Not sure how accurate that is but even half of that would be an enormous amount of time injured

He has played the equivalent of one season out of 2........that is scary.

We had a very good run in his first few years, I seem to recall that he had his injury issues when he was younger too, though I might be imagining that.

Either way, looking back, we got good value for money at 6 million quid - probably the best 6 million quid the club ever spent (though pound for pound the 50kish on Andy Morrison might run it close)

How long does he still have with his contract?

And how much money does he get? Of course, this might not be official, but about what? 8 mil per year?

And how many times has he put his body on the line for City? He's been a fucking warrior for us. And of course he wants to play for his country whenever possible, who wouldn't?

Personally I think he deserves all the time and support he requires. But then he is possibly my all time favourite city player.

Exactly. He's been a fantastic captain and ambassador for the club and we should never forget that. He is a proud Belgian who wants to represent his country whenever he can. Perhaps in hindsight he will regret rushing himself back to play for Belgium or City but you can't fault a player for wanting to play football. Stark contrast to Jovetic who wouldn't play if he had a cracked fingernail

Hotels - Doubletree by Hilton is reasonably priced and near piccadilly train station, Crowne Plaza in the Northern Quarter, Holiday Inn Express in Northern Quarter. Depends on your budget

Bars - Go to the Alchemist on New York Street and try a Smoky Old Fashioned - they do the best ones. If you want somewhere for ales then Brewdog is good as is Albert's Schloss. There's also loads of bars in the Northern Quarter where you should find somewhere that you like and no trouble there either. Spinningfields has got some good restaurants and bars too

Places to avoid - The Printworks and Old Trafford

Hope that helps

I think is a mistake.

This is a moment for him to go back behind the curtain and work on everything about him, not go on tv all smiles and stuff.
