He will improve them in the short term, lets face it, that wouldn't really be all too difficult.
We still need to strengthen, we haven't removed much dead wood yet.

It's obvious the transfer market is stuck waiting for several big deals to be completed which will then open up other deals if that makes sense ? ie Juventus playing silly cunts for one . Can't see Yaya , Bony or Kolarov having much of a future under pep , we will see once one or two incoming pending transfers go through .
Not really here

I'm still anxious that it was 21st August and I missed my birthday. Is a big one.

Not anxious about the season ahead. Think there are three teams worse than us and we will stay up.

The only teams who've significantly strengthened are the scum, and to a lesser extent chelsea. And chelsea have many aging/overhyped players, so their new signings are more keeping the status quo than improving.

Liverpool, spurs, and especially the arse have done fuck all. And Leicester has lost one of their main players.

Mourinho is a basketcase since leaving madrid and the rags still have a loong way to go until having a top squad. Zlatan is old and unproven in the PL, they still have shrek, and their defense is swiss cheese when they don't put 10 players behind the ball.

In addition to our (very good) new signings, we also have Nasri back and Sterling will be very different this year under Pep. Nacho will be even better in his 2nd year. Silva looked back to his best (niggle free) at the Euros. Not to mention KDB, Silva, and Aguero playing Pep's style.

Nervous is the last word to describe how I feel. The season can't come soon enough!

I understand the anxiety - we do need to strengthen quickly.

Our defence is my biggest concern. We need 2 new fullbacks and have no top class centre backs. Mangala is getting better, but we cannot rely on Kompany and Otamendi is pretty hopeless. It's worrying that Stones is our main target.

A returning Nasri will be a big boost and I hope we see KDB in a more central role this coming season. But a 20 goal a season striker is needed. We've gone from Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli to Aguero, Nacho, Bony and Nolito. That's a vast difference in quality, even if I do have big hopes for Nacho.

Am I anxious?

1. Would I swap our squad for any other PL squad - No
2. Have the Rags signed Pogba - No
3. Have the Rags signed Rodriguez - No
4. Would those 2 make the Rags better than us - No, closer but not better
5. Who is the best manager in the PL - Pep (then Pocha then Conti)
4. Does our squad need a boost - Yes
6. Why? - to win the PL and maybe the CL in 2016/17
5. What does it need - YaYa replacement, a center half, 2 full backs
7. What do we get without those 4 signings - a good shot at the PL, a shot at CL semis
8. Can Pep work miracles - No. He can improve factors like team spirit and player's performances
For sure he will improve us in 2016/17
9. Why are we not getting our transfer targets - Pep's arrival. Sellers asking exobitant prices as they know the owners want to back Pep
10. Will we get out transfer targets - Yes, mostly. But it could be January or next Summer if we stare down the sellers

IMO we have the best squad, manager, academy and owners (with very deep pockets). Squad improvements via transfers are on the way.

Am I anxious? No
Am I excited? Yes

btw: I am relaxed on the Rags!
Us, Spurs, Ars and Chelsea are ahead of them (provided it is a level playing field i.e. if the Ref's are not under orders. This is a big concern)
They have big flaws in defence and up front
Three of their main characters are over the hill: the manager, Rooney and the clown that is Zlatan.
Pogba is over-rated. He goes MIA to often. They could avoid a £100M bullet with him. (Not a patch on Toni Kroos playing as a deep lying creator)
They have pace in Martial and Rashford, the new signing are very good. But that is not enough to trouble us.

I'm still laughing at the thought of the Rags paying £100+ million for a player who was already theirs, and it was Taggart that let him go!

On ours, I'm of the opinion that we will be more than satisfied with our transfer business as the window closes ;-)

We scraped top 4 last season and struggled hugely at the back. Our best players are injured all the time. You can guarantee komps and aguero will miss minimum 15 games between them. We will ship goals without one and struggle up front without the other.

We were shocking last year. Arse, rags, spurs, liverpool and leicester might not have improved a lot but they all beat us last season. Some of them embarrassed us so even if they haven't set the world on fire in the window it's still us that need to catch up. You just need to look back at the real game to see how far away from our true goal we are, that's the measurement. A few kids and pep won't bring us to that level and we need depth just to cope with 4 competitions without injuries.

It seems stupid to bring in the best manager in the world and not give him the tools to get the best results. Waste of a golden opportunity.

With all due respect, your post makes you sound like a spoiled brat, yes we can throw hundreds of millions at it, or we can put our trust in the new manager and he deals with what we already have in house then so be it. I read an article on BBC earlier with Fabian Delph quoted as saying he's learnt more from the manager in the last three weeks than in his entire career to date!

Last season was last season and we've done the post mortem over and over already! The window is FAR from closed and IF we need to strengthen in the managers eyes, then we have the capacity to do so.

If Pogba goes to rags, if we don't get kroos other countless players we've been linked with, in my mind it's because (A) we weren't after them in the first place (B) new manager isn't stupid enough to pay stupid money for them, ala rags buying back a player for £100+M to appease the fickle fans, I'm sure there was something else I was going to say but I'm now 5 pints of numbers to the good.

In short, have faith.....

That was Pellegrini. 1st, 2nd, 4th, ...thank god we got rid! (Has he found another job yet?)

I'm excited but not anxious, as yet, about the new season. Pep was brought in to spot, encourage and develop talent in new signings, the existing squad and the academy. I'll wait to see how we play as a team and leave it until 10th September before I start being anxious (or relaxed) - after the tricky Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham games and CL qualifiers!

Definitely feeling more confidant. Still a little concerned about our central midfield, if we had a younger Yaya type or a creative game controlling central midfielder the league would be as good as over...........

Gundogan can do that job.

Gundogan, Fernandinho and KDB as our midfield trio, what's not to like?
