is there no taste for the trivial among the cognoscenti on here?
Nope - I said not Joe or Damir - another pair share a number and both on our booksiwasthere2012 wrote:johnny crossan wrote:johnny crossan wrote:Here's a quiz question about this subject. I'll bite Johnny.
Bravo has taken the No. 1 but Joe has already played in this number.
Could you possibly be referring to this pair.

I Just Blue Myself wrote:Zinchenko and Jovetic both had 35, but proclaiming that they share it is misleading, as a number is only assigned to a player upon registration in a specific competition, which is not the case for either at the club currently. Nice try though.

Speaking of Jovetic though, this page says Jove's loan contract is up at the end of December and they only have loan option...surely he won't be coming back?
I Just Blue Myself wrote:Well, you could certainly say that loaned players might 'retain' their number, as long as it is not given to another player at the club for the duration of their loan, but officially they are registered for their loan club and the number at the parent club is vacant, i.e. Bony is registered as #12 for Stoke currently and #14 at City is vacant. He cannot 'have' both at the same time.
Olivier Ntcham had #55 before he went out on loan, now it is assigned to Brahim Diaz. :)

Jovetic's Wiki page could contradict the Tranfermarkt info though, if he turns out for Inter before December - he's registered in their first team squad but hasn't featured in the team or on the (very large) bench in the first two league games. I think jojo is gogo but surely the noble Inter owners won't tell the manager to throw their games to stay in the relegation zone until December so they don't have to pay for him!
'On 31 July 2015, Jovetić joined Serie A side Inter on an 18-month loan deal, for €2.5 million, with a conditional obligation of redemption for €14.5 million, if Inter was ranked 17th or better in December 2016 or making a competitive appearance for Inter in 2016–17 season. Jovetić signed a four-year contract.[34] '
