Best Match Of Your Life

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The difference is that tonight we did it against supposedly one of the best teams in the world with allegedly the best attacking line up of all time with arguably the greatest player of all time in a competition in which we have previously failed to fulfil our potential. The games mentioned by other posters have tremendous sentimental value but I just feel that tonight was a defining point in this club's history and the only thing that will top it will be winning this competition

Yep.

The 1-0 in the FA cup run 2011? Semi final, final, and may be rags at home in the run in to the title 2012?

I think you've nailed em all.

1-0's were Stoke in the FA Cup Final, Scum in the semi-final and the Kompany header in the run in to the title. What a fucking masterclass that game was.

2-1 against Sunderland.

League Cup Final, or was that 3-1?

Best match is still the 5-1, the 6-1, the 10-1 or Gillingham.

It was amazing result and amazing game but I agree with Tokyo. In future we need to be able to do this consistently.

I'd add that last 4-1 derby and THAT goal and we have pretty definitive list as far as I'm concerned. Those are the games I will remember at my deathbed. They all changed the course of history to us one way or another. I believe we would have qualified to knockout stages even with a loss here.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Holy crap, I can't even picture the 3rd goal.

Those two were just world class goals though and something like 90 seconds apart.

Lovely. You forget just what a brilliant goal it was from Yaya. And Nasri's wasn't too shabby either

The counter for Navas's goal was quite tidy as well.

Played well but if we are still getting all star-struck about beating Barca we haven't arrived yet. We have just played 2 CL semis against Real (albeit not very well) and we are up with the big boys - if we don't believe it ourselves how can we convince others? Good news is the pundits seem to be getting it.

So yes, good game, well played, next match please.

It was a stellar performance, but I think this game has more to it than this.

I think this was our step to the next level.

I think the fact that we came from behind in this one gives it huge significance in terms of our squad mentality in particular.

We did that against Bayern in Germany.

How is this any more of a watershed moment than that?

Bayern had already qualified from the group going into that game, still a fantastic achievement but last night was special.

Best moment is QPR , best game was 6 1 vs scum , best half was this against Barcelona in terms of team play and desire to win and who we dismantle in half , I honestly never saw City dominate some of the Europe big clubs in this kind of way, best comeback 2 1 against West Brom with red and 10 min to go..
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

Yes, the WBA was pretty special. The second half yesterday was the best I've seen though.

I agree , best City half ever , just think its Barcelona plus ref and they cant take ball over the centar for 10 minute at times.

As good as we were in that second half. I think we would struggle to beat a second half performance that we had against Spurs in the FA cup. 3-0 down at half time and down to 10 men for the 2nd half. That was unbelievable Jeff. Stuff of fairytales

Beat me to it. One of the greatest comebacks in English football, let alone for us
