Rooney crying about the media, didn't see the England captain defending Raheem when he was butchered in the press over the summer?

Fuck him, if he is stupid enough to to let people take pictures of him with the current clama for stories about him given his shite form then he deserves all he gets. Clearly not one for enganging his brain.

If his form was half decent no one would give to fucks but he looks done at the top level of football and this sort of thing just adds more fuel to the fire that he is done.

So true. None of his current valiant defenders either.

can I ask, if he knew he wasn't going to play against Spain, why couldn't he have a few drinks, he would of been back in Manchester on the Monday. but he should of known about people waiting to take pics of him and put them on Facebook or sell them on. but then again footballers are a bit daft and do things which will make it into papers.

Yeah I've been out for quick pint after football and got back 12 hours later many a time in my younger days. Difference was I wasn't being paid 300 grand a week to do my best for my fans - unspeakable creatures though they may be. It's the price you have to pay these days - especially if you are out of form and can't get in the team!

You can't train when you've been on the lash - if you don't train properly it's bound to affect your game. Not rocket science.

That's a fair point St John from Austell, but getting pissed every now and again when there is no game can't hurt too much. The media really did a job on the wiggy fecker. There is no sense of perspective in the media.

The rules should be the same as for any other professional. My employer has no right to stop me drinking in my own time but it is a disciplinary offence to be drunk when representing the company, including on company functions. Same for footballers.

Nice one John :) :)

My own feelings are that Shrek is/has been an abject, ridiculous buffoon at the best of times but, because he played for the Scum, he's had a relatively pampered media existence so far.

If the media start to turn on him now and make him kook like an even bigger idiot than ever, then this is not before time.

I've no sympathy whatsoever with the pettyfogging dullard.

Don't we want him to stay in the good books? So he can stay being crap for them and reducing any potential fee they could get for him?

In the only photo I saw of him (quite clearly pissed out of his tree and barely able to stand) he was wearing an official England top complete with sponsor logos - which sponsor would want that associated with them? Not to mention this was the captain. The deflection campaign from the RAGs and RAG friendly media has done a job burying that issue as far as I can see. That should be the thing people are crucifying the granny shagger for - it completely wipes out his argument that he was on a night off.
