Didn't he win the golden boot in the last world cup for a load of penalties and a deflection?

Right now I’d take the penalties

Please God no! 3 years ago I'd maybe entertain the idea.He might be a lovely fella I don't know, but his mumblings alone have me pressing the mute button. I don't know if I could warm to him. Another young pure striker in the mold of Aguero or Clive Allen type for me, but I don't know if there is anyone out there.

Halaand should be the answer, to be honest. He is a no brainer.
This doesn't mean I wouldn't want Harry, but out of the two of them, Young Alfie is the answer.

Kane is a curious case for me, I hate half the players from the top clubs (if you can say they are a top club), but I like him. He looks also as a very decent bloke, head over his shoulders. I think his character would fit right into our squad.

I think he's got a slow-but-affable nature to him. The Tim Nice-but-Dim of Essex lads.

He’s the dopey mate you’d be able to convince to jump off the balcony on holiday.

We need a striker in the summer. That is for definite. Possibly two.

Is Kane the answer? Could be.
Are there better alternatives? Yes there are, but whether we get them is another matter.

Haaland is the obvious candidate as the long term successor to Aguero. But this will be a difficult deal to get over the line, not least because of his agent. He is scoring goals for fun in the Bundesliga but the PL is a big step up from that. Werner the last couple of years scored goals for fun in Germany but has really struggled for Chelsea so there is never a guarantee of goals. But he would be my first choice given his age and strength and ability to score goals from many positions

Kane is older and we wouldn’t get as many years out of him. There wouldn’t be a lot of resale value either. And Levy as is well documented, is not an easy man to do business with, especially as Kane is on a long term contract so unless Kane tries to force through a move it would be pricy. And he is unlikely to do that given the affinity he has for Spurs. But over 200 goals for them by 28 is a phenomenal achievement and when you consider they aren’t very successful it makes it all the better. He would likely score plenty for us given the chances we create and when all is said and done, goals are a strikers currency so I wouldn’t dismiss signing him out of hand. But the deal would need to be right given the circumstances and I just can’t see it happening for less than huge huge money.

Hopefully we are not going to be in for Messi as at 34 what is the point. But I rather think we might be, we shall see. But I reckon he will stay at Barca when push comes to shove

Who else could we sign?
Son? Lukaku? Mbappe?
Does it have to be a big name signing? Could we sign someone on the relative cheap to tide us over for a couple of years until a Haaland or a Mbappe becomes available? Someone like a Cavani perhaps. Ings? Antonio from West Ham?

Signing a marquee forward is not straightforward and we have our work cut out. Maybe we have a shortlist of three forwards and circumstance may dictate who we sign. Things like the agent, the selling club, who else is in for them, wages, where a player wants to live, language issues, are all factors.
Look at the signing of Dias in the summer. Was he our first or only choice? Who knows, but I suspect not. It would be foolhardy to put all your hopes on one player if the deal couldn’t be done.

Ide take him on the cheap, that wouldn't happen though, so forget about it.

I am not convinced we will get Haaland, we wont want to deal with his nice agent. And too many seem to be pinning their hopes on the fact his old man played for us.

To be fair, Dortmund dealt with his agent no problem. I’ve read a lot of reports that Erling takes his dads advice, rather than his agents.

We are doing fantastically well with a system that incorporates a false nine and all the opposition haven’t got a clue or ability to cope with it . Apart from our best in the world CBs and keeper we are a team of “midgets” breaking records week after week game after game . So we need a “lump” to play Center forward ??? really ???

There is no doubt that Kane is a goalscoring machine and for most teams would be a huge asset.
With City? I don't see him having the football nouse nor the technical ability to play the way we play.

We would need to adapt our system to get the best out of him and at his age he would be shorter term fix, we would trying to fix what is not only, not broken, but proven to be light years ahead of of every other domestic team and is, as yet unknown if we are ahead in Europe.

He’s not a lump. He’s an excellent footballer and scores plenty of goals. There aren’t many players in the world who score more goals than him and he’s not playing for a top side.

There are plenty of reasons we can discuss to decide whether he’s a good fit for us or not. But I don’t know how anyone who has watched him play can describe him as a ‘lump’.

But regardless of whether we sign Kane or another striker, we can’t assume our current system will work next season. Teams will find a way to play against us. We need to continually evolve.

If Bayern call Dortmund it tends to be a done deal mate as history tells us.

That’s usually when the player is German or wants to stay in Germany though mate. I can see Haaland having a bit more ambition than that.

In general, Norwegians favor English football. He grew up around it. I reckon he'll want to play in the EPL over Spain or Germany.
