If the players had went to Brazil they would have had to quarantine for 14 days so would not have been able to play in the Brazil games against Argentina and Peru, which is why they didn't go. If they had went and quarantined over there they would then have to quarantine here as Brazil is on the UK red list. Absolute nuts from Brazil. I believe they had no intention of fulfilling the fixture with Argentina and are now shaking down the clubs for cash in penalties for not releasing the players. At this moment in time international football, especially where players are moving between continents should be suspended but there is too much money involved for that to happen.

Apparently a 3-0 default defeat can be issued to a team who plays players who are deemed ineligible by this FIFA rule
Be interesting to see what would happen if both Leeds and Liverpool fielded their respective “banned” players as they meet at the weekend. Give them both a default defeat?
So if I have this right, as the match was played in Brazil where there are very strict quarantine rules and as such, players based in the UK couldn’t play as they wouldn’t have time to quarantine, the English based players were withheld from travelling as there would have been no point. Then the authorities are going to invoke a ban because of the fact they didn’t travel?
Are these people in power completely devoid of any semblance of sense? It has to be of the more idiotic decisions in a long line of idiotic decisions

Brazil kicked off because Argentina had England based players playing, but at the same time wanted their England based players to travel for no reason?

I'm fuming about this, the Premier League stopped clubs from releasing players, but it's the clubs that are suffering.
FIFA (and Brazil) doesnt want to take a Pandemic into account as context.

It is felt Brazil showed leniency in that specific case as Everton allowed Richarlison to play at the Olympic Games when the regulations did not force them to.
Play them and threaten to take Brazil to court as they’re not providing the same “punishment” for everyone.[/quote
Clearly a precedent with the players who went to the olympics? Tell Brazil to fuck off and play them - what's the worst that they can do? Follow this up with the red shite stance and withdraw them from squads due to "injury" - see Sancho who will no doubt play for them against the bar codes this wkend
It will be interesting to see what the Dippers do, they have Allison and Firmino in the Brazil squad, can't see the powers that be upsetting them, wow there wouldn't be enough candles to go round if they were "victimised " again, fuck me Paddy's wigwam would have to put special prayer sessions on
I predict a Klopp candle Melt-Down.

EXCL: Chief exec Richard Masters has written to PL clubs today to say a resolution could be reached over the 11 banned non-travelling players BEFORE this weekend's games. Means likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, City, United and Leeds may all benefit. More

shortly.
Fingers crossed something may happen

Absolute bullshit. No way could FIFA and the leagues uphold such a stupid rule under these circumstances. What were players supposed to do, miss a club game only to turn up in their country to isolate and not actually play and then isolate again and miss club games when they get back home?
When I first heard it I thought it was just another fake news moment, nothing has changed since.

It's a difficult one this, to be honest. I would rather sit Eddy and Gabby out of this, rather than then coming home with Covid and infecting the whole squad.
What we've learned is that covid doesn't kick in instantly so I would be cautious with this.
If the have it and they come in contact with the squad and infect other then we are truly fucked with our schedule.

And Leicester. What a fucking shithole.
