Be surprised if it was announced before the season is out. He might want out if he manages to win nothing

Hard to tell with pep. If we win the champs league does he quit then or does he quit if we lose everything ?

I hope to fuck he stays, the thought of us playing second fiddle on a constant basis to klopp and that shower is stomach turning and I'm not sure anyone is more equipped to keep them a bay than pep.

So for that reason alone, please please sign on

I'm fucking gutted.

But I dread to think how we'll compete with uefa, the Premier league, the media and football in general without him

Pep brings that little bit extra that has got us over the line so many times, that 10% that takes the ref out of the equation.

Without him, I’m not sure who we could turn to, even though the king must live on.

We were fine before Pep and we’ll be fine after him. He’s been great and won every major trophy domestically - in the same season no less. Brilliant being there and seeing that.

He’s not the be all and end all though. No player is bigger than City and that’s the same with the manager. I personally won’t miss the “will he sign, won’t he sign” that we have every few years that seems to effect the players. Luckily the last time it happened Fern called that meeting and everything changed after that.

Hopefully he signs but if not we move on.

I think he might walk after last night. Or be pushed. I'd rather he stay but things are brittle at the moment. Very brittle. If we flop in the league, which is very possible, it might be time to re-think.

He'll win the league, don't you worry.

It's hard being in his shoes, it really is.

If he goes, people will ask about him and if he is actually a checkbook merchant, how many have presented him, something that will hit his ego big time.
If he stays, how will he motivate the squad? Maybe some will be fed up by his methods. Maybe he will be fed up by the same players.

He had managerial brainfarts in the UCL, no doubt, but ultimately, player fuckups knocked him out of the UCL last night, with Lyon, Scouse and ultimately even Chelsea.

I think he needs a break.

4 of the last 5 semis have been lost. Different reasons for losing 3 in a row in the FA Cup, but still, it's a worrying trend.

According to some fans he is the be all and end all .
I’m still at the same bridge - contrary to what some cunts think I think , I still wouldn’t be upset if he left and still wouldn’t be upset if he stays.

He’s a fucking Jonah when it comes to the CL , just cannot win it without Messi , got nowhere near winning it with BM and gets nowhere with us .
Last nights result wasn’t down to him though ,but at the end of the day history will not go into fine detail , it will say we lost the semi final and another X will be marked against the manager in this comp.

I also think we have been poor in the transfer market , we signed a 100 million player that we did not need instead of buying what we did need ,which was a fucking left back. We should have sold Laporte and gone for his replacement last summer and sold Sterling who had turned to shit.

Laporte and Sterling would have brought us 100 million and the 100 million we spunked up the wall for a player we didn’t need and who has NEVER won us a game yet (that I can recall ) , with a pass or a goal , would have given us a 200 million kitty to get the player/s we needed.

The manager also decided to go with 17 players plus the youngsters this season - our squad is actually one of the smallest in the league when it comes to experienced outfield players - this affects us over the season when we start to get injuries and it cost us points .

There are so many examples of resting players in key games (semi final of FA cup to name but one ) and It’s cost us.

I’m gutted and I’m trying really hard not to go overboard with the blame game but blame has to be part and parcel of any analysis .

It’s fine to say that we getting haaland and next season will be the season etc etc but we are talking this season -
The CL has gone now and now it’s the league we are trying to hang on to win - it’s unacceptable we are “hanging in there “ seeing as we were leap years ahead of the dippers and there will be no hiding place for the manager if we lose it .

The CL always comes second to the prem , no matter what the owners think , and he has to win it otherwise I’ll never forgive him for allowing the dippers to do what he should have done .

There will be no hiding place for him or his decision making if we throw the league away. I could see him walking if that happened regardless of what was on the table. Agree with Laporte and Sterling, sadly, Sterling's value will have dropped again but I'd be surprised if we did not see one or both going which I have no problem with as Sterling going frees up a place for Palmer and Mcatee which is where we should be looking
As i said in the ins and out thread, my real fear is that we paper over the cracks with a striker whilst neglecting the left back which is and has been for YEARS one of our major flaws in the biggest of games

Good post Carl, agree with all that and the points about squad size etc all factor in and make a difference eventually.
Last night was freak collapse in the space of 5 mins or less, thinking we were already there or something.

But the weaknesses need to be admitted, squad cover and players sell by date being two.
The other one for me is to not just have one way of playing that we try to make perfect - and that's on Pep

See what RM did , take off attacking players for defensive ones .
Our manager threw on a little midget who couldn’t score in a bucket of Tits when we needed to score .
What really really irks me is having the likes of Palmer sat on the bench when we desperately need a goal .

Actually this is something I've noticed, hence my pessimism (besides my usual self).
At 0-1, Ancelotti threw the kitchen sink.
At 3-1, we played the same, same system, same way of passing from side to side, that's why they had no problem keeping the score.

The eternal lack of Plan B.
