These big injuries can have a psychological impact.
Many players are not the same even after full physical recovery.

The thought regarding what impact it will have on him has crossed my mind. Will he have lost a little pace? Not be as nimble on the ball?

The only proof is when he returns and he deserves his chance then

Its more like will his brain want his body making the same movement that caused the injury. We're led to believe it was self inflicted, he did it himself turning somehow, which for me is worse than someone else clattering into him. Because its his own action and fault, seems strange but it might habe been be better for him mentally if someone else had caused it.

Just adds another dimension to it. Recovery will be a lot more than physical.

"Most fractures around the upper part of the fibula are actually the result of an injury that started at the ankle. For example, a severe twisting can cause a fracture around the ankle and the energy travels up the leg and exits near the upper part of the fibula. "

think you're making too much of this
my eldest 'broke his shoulder' at the end of the last rugby season, literally in the last 5 mins of the final game of the season! it sounds horrific but it was a crack at the top of his humerus. ruled out for 3 months but the season had ended so he missed no rugby. started preseason training this week and didn't even mentioned it before heading off to training... it was only the coaches asking how he was that reminded him that it happened.

the mental aspect of recovery is a big concern. but equally im worried that we’ll dip into the market and bring someone in who blocks bobb’s progression even if he makes a full recovery. that would be tragic and the club needs to be careful.

Only making the point that the possibility exists he may come back a different player, mentally.
Leroy Sane was he as good after his ACL?
I am not so sure he was / is.

My favourite now is Ederson. You could throw a brick at that lad and he’d want to carry on.

Bobb will be alright. He’s a kid so he’ll have that bouncebackability.

Pep confirms it was an impact injury, it wasn’t that he did it himself -

The bits of the fibula need to be lined up hence the surgery. Plate and screws. He should be as good as new when back.

I wonder why this was not truthfully reported before?

Makes you wonder if it might be because the other player is already unpopular? Perhaps Phillips, Nunes or Cancello...

Because it was a Chinese whisper that leaked out, the club hadn't said anything until Pep's presser that I can see. Also i doubt whoever it was did it intentionally and therefore no reason to give Joe public someone to hate on, it won't change or solve anything except a player getting which hunted rather concentrating on their game.
