Rodri arriving for assessment by Dr Cugat in Barcelona. He seems to be walking ok. Still I’m not getting my hopes up.

Walking is possible after an ACL tear, even running. Try changing direction at any speed makes it interesting, bottom of your leg moves one direction upper leg moves the other way. Knee feels as if its shearing in two. Tore mine in mid 80's didnt go well for football or rugby career. Sports science advanced since then

Notwithstanding all this, would medical advice not be to not put any weight on it or not walk on it just in case?

Should be ok to walk on but it should be with a knee brace. I'm buying one for golf

Not to read too much into it but Pep agreed he will be out for a little while. Less definitive than the whole season. I’d have thought they pretty well know by now. Normally there’s a dreaded popping sound with an ACL tear.

More from Pep on Rodri. Out for a long time but might yet be not as bad as the worst outcome. Apparently tomorrow will decide matters.

Sounds like it’s definitely some sort of surgery then. He gets his rest now that he was moaning about. Be careful what you wish for..

Could be the difference between being out till January/February and out for the season. I’m braced for the worst.

Fuck all we can do now except wait for today's prognosis. Hoping for the new year but if not, then I don't see us even looking for a replacement in January - we may look to add in midfield but not with a Phillips type signing. On Pep to come up with a tactical solution - Kova on his own works against lesser teams but that's not going to get us chumps league
Ok

Speaking of Phillips, has he done anything at Ipswich yet?

I could care less. Pep rates Nunes and sees something in him the same cannon be said of Phillips. We got that wrong and he definitely does not have a future here

Rodders ain't getting younger and after this injury might be prone to more injuries. We really need to bring in an up and coming talented backup in the January window or summer. Not just for cover, potentially to replace him in the future.

The club should have had this in mind already . The positive to take is now iis t's necessary. That said, I doubt we will rush in. A replacement for Rodders is going to see very little game time - maybe a bit more following this injury and that's not good from a replacement's point of view

Now is the time for the Club to put their arms round him. Hopefully he’ll get and sign a new contract with a massive release clause to signal to Real Madrid to Foxtrot Oscar.

In all honesty, we had a fair warning last season he needs a back-up.
We failed to do that. Our own fault for this, no one else. Reminds me of our defensive fuck up in 2019-20.

Imagine our midfiled without our late addition of Gundog with Rodri and Kevin out and the amount of fixtures ahead.
Very, very sloppy.

Fair warning? There were alarm bells and sirens ringing at huge decibels and we did fuck all.
It seems like, "Ah we have Pep if we lose a few players, he'll come up with something" shrug the shoulders type of attitude.

To be fair, why go out and buy someone to cover Rodri if there’s no one good enough? Anyone we brought in wouldn’t be as good as Gundo or Kova doing that role, so why piss money away for no reason?

We did it with Phillips. We did it with Nunes. £100m down the shitter. Wait until there’s a genuine player that could do the job and then go for them.
