He was nowhere near the man that put the cross in, he'd went for a wander but apparently it wasn't his fault it was Bernardo's for playing a loose ball up the pitch ten seconds earlier. He never was good but used to have pace to cover his many mistakes, now the pace is gone he has nothing.

The extended highlights are on the City website. Stop the almost 10 minutes of hightlights at about 8.58 and ask yourself who is supposed to be covering Soucek ? as he wanders aimlessly towards the left wing ? Gündo who is ball watching or Walker, who is in his correct position. Furthermore , you have Akanji and Bernado with a full view of all player movement. All four players too slow to react not just walker. Might even ask why Gvardiola was way too slow to react to Fullkrug runnung though.

Watched it and still going to disagree with you. Walker is too far up the pitch leaving space for Soucek to move into and he never clocks his movement. Gundo is covering the 7 and then goes too close to the ball and is passed around. Walker then is nowhere, forcing Akanji to move over and leave the space for Fullkrug which Gvardiol doesn't make enough effort or have enough time to cover. The key though is Walker's positioning giving the opposition an invite to expose his space. Souness says that at Liverpool they used to use a phrase "find the stooge" - a player who will switch off when the ball goes out of play or ties his laces at the wrong time or watches the ball rather than the movement. Our stooge is Kyle Walker every time he is on the pitch.

I was not pleased with Walker playing footsie with Bayern. His remarks about Grealish when on England duty were disgraceful. As club Captain he should not have been justifying Grealish’s non inclusion in the squad. After all that Im not disposed to overlook his very poor form. He will presumably be moved on in the Summer transfer window. No statue for him.

Gundo wasn't covering anyone , just floating around aimlessly, as he has done since he rejoined

Walker is neither covering left midfielder, he's yards away, and he's well in advance of the left wing player that receives a thru ball and provides the cross for the goal. Caught in no man's land. His fail safe is to mark the forward and Akanji is pointing for him to be covered when the through ball is made. Walker never has had a football brain. Gets booked within minutes of coming on, caught out for the goal and gave West Ham opportunities on our right side. Used to rely on his pace to get himself out of trouble but he hasn't got that now. The guy shouldn't captain ( a brain fuck to even pick him), doesn't set good examples on or off the pitch, he's an arse. He wanted out a couple of years ago , City should help him.

He's been an abomination this season, but we need to remember he was a vital part of the greatest team in English football history.

Shame how it's ended but the best right back in the league for the last decade

Also mentioned by Fabrizio Romano who is pretty nailed on with these things - Pep is quoted as saying Walker wants to go immediately to play abroad to end his career

Or to play devils advocate, we could mirror Kyle’s energy and totally not give a fuck?

Hopefully this gets done soon for all parties.

But, if the guy we get to replace Walker stays 7-8 years and is as good as he was for the first 6-7 years then we will be lucky

Kyle Walker: "Manchester City... where do I start? Signing for this incredible club in 2017 was a dream come true. Seven years later, winning 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the famous treble is something I could only have dreamt as a child.

"To play alongside so many top players has pushed me to be the best version of myself, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity I've had at the Etihad.

"A huge thank you to so many people, the coaching staff, the kit men and all the backroom staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. You make every day enjoyable and provide the platform for us to perform at our best.

"To my teammates, from the moment I walked through the door I felt at home. Thank you for the great memories and for all the success we have shared together. You are friends, but also family for life.

"To Pep Guardiola, thank you for believing in me and working so hard to bring me here in 2017. Together, we've celebrated 17 trophies, and your guidance has helped shape me into the player I am today. I'll be forever grateful.

"To Annie, our children and all my family who have been there and supported me on this journey thank you.

"Most importantly, to the fans-thank you for embracing me as one of your own from day one. Your unwavering support, week in, week out, home and away, will never be forgotten.

"I wish you all constant success going forward. Thank you. Kyle." [IG]
