I think Grealish and Pep just don't get on. There's always going to be an element of disharmony and discord in every squad and club at the top level. Players being left out, youngsters not getting a good run of games, players behaving like tits off the field etc etc........I believe this is where we're at and only a clearout or change of manager can solve the issue. When you're a millionaire and have no financial worries this sort of thing becomes more apparent, soft divas and all that nonsense.

That Sanchez was and is a prime example of signing a multimillionaires contract ( rags ) and then not giving a shit .

That flash prick Rashford was and is exactly the same .
There are so many examples.

Agree were not getting enough from our current wide players, even when Silva goes wide he is abysmal. Marmoush has been played wide and he doesn't look a winger at all. Grealish, well its hard to see him being around next season. Hopefully Bobb can come back at some stage and then there is Echeverri he will probably be stuffed out on the wing as well.

Would you get along with someone who a lot are saying put a leash on your talent?
Sure, you won everything, but as a footballer it seems you went backwards.

Good shout on Bobb and Echeverri. Fingers crossed.

Savio and Doku definitely shouldn’t avoid criticism because they’re “young”. McAtee gets shit and he’s the same age and gets half the opportunities that those two whoppers do.

McAtee and Doku are both 23 this year, Sav is 21 this year. I think as soon as his decision making improves he'll be fantastic for us. His debut against Chelsea when he had Cucurella in knots, the performance against Newcastle the other week. Needs to score more for sure but some of the runs and assists have been great.

Exactly. I can image the two of them arriving for training at the same time and trying to avoid eye contact in the carpark. Grealish saying under his breath ' you badly prick' and Pep under his breath saying ' you donkey if you stink of alcohol this morning I'll be so so mad '.

You’ve named 2 games out of 20+ Him being fantastic for us boarders on OD saying Nunes would be class for us. Will screenshot this as I did with this -

Original Dub wrote:Mase, I know you've mentioned a couple of times that I said Gomez and phillips would be class and obviously that was completely untrue and no such evidence can be found...

Well here's some evidence you can hold on to. And quote me in a year or two if he's been cast aside...

Nunes will be class for city

He's been great in a lot more than those 2 games. He's got 9 assists this season already. The only thing he's not on his Girona level yet is the goals. He's got the 1st touch of Mahrez, bring back the screen shot next season Savinho will be fantastic for us

Totally agree but Pep is obsessed with possession. Trouble is it tends to slow us down and is so bloody boring. Other teams break quick ang get the ball into ourbox.

I suspect that while our wide players can't hold a candle to those in the past (who were in fact more like inside forwards), the current wingers are less at fault than those in the middle who are unable to capitalise on the amount of the ball they see.

Pep's approach has always been to create an overload on one side or another with the spare fullback/man in midfield, until they pull an opposition playerout of their zone, then strike with a killer pass. The challenge currently is Foden, Silva and KDB can't pick their nose (let alone a pass) at the moment or carry the ball past a man. It's also very evident that teams have wised up to just stand their ground and occupy their zone - in which case we're fucked until someone like Newcastle turns up for a tear up r until a team gets tired later in the game and loses concentration.....by which time they have smashed us on the counter attack at least once.

Problem now is that we have wingers, not inside forwards - so we have the worst of all worlds because we have total dysfunction across the 4 players immediately behind Haaland.

But we have zero variation, and it begs the question why even buy a Doku if they aren't ever going to be encouraged to have a run (or when they do like vs Liverpool), have no end product.....but that end product isn't in my opinion his fault, because the 4 behind the striker aren't offering options so Haaland is marked by 3 players. Grealish's value in the CL year was that he kept the ball moving across the front 4/5, so when Foden, KDB and Silva were on it, eventually those holes opened up and were exploited.

It's a fucking shitshow all round tactically, and it was interesting to see the comments from Capello yesterday about his stubbornness that has arguably lost us 1 for sure, but possible 3 other opportunities to get to a final over the years.

I’m honestly still baffled by the Doku signing.

We had Palmer ready to go, and signing Doku is what pushed Palmer to say he wanted to go out on loan, in my opinion.

It was a stupid buy and the guys not improved in two season here. Has one good game a season against an Ipswich or Bournemouth.

He was electric before coming here, chaos, but electric. We've barely seen him here.
So sure, you have to ask, is it him or is it Pep not improving players?

I think Pep improves teams, his best weapon is to make teams work, but with the expense of individuals, with a few exceptions, of course (Rodri, Foden).
We've brough players (except Haaland), that fit the system. We've avoided bidding wars, marketing signings and so on.

Other than a really shit defender like TAA, we play too high a line for anybody to give him the space to run, so he will be neutralised either by pushing him inside where we're now useless, or by letting him run by to smash a cross in for Haaland who's marked by 2-3 defenders. Doku's use is coming on last 15 minutes when a game is stretched and putting a game to bed.

Basic problem is, he's a chaos merchant. He doesn't have the quality and composure on the ball of Sterling, Mahrez etc - but Grealish is the closest we've got and he's not using him.

Baffling
