A grown up performance was required and it just wasn't there, we played like school kids making stupid errors. Every time Villa played the ball over the half way line they looked dangerous, pacy, aggressive in the tackle and won fair and square. I have a feeling the seniors will have exactly the same experience in their cup final. Pep really does have to come up with something new, a new approach, a different style of play, maybe one that actually suits one of the greatest strikers of our generation. Teams have worked us out and its old hat now. If we have another season anything like this one, it's time for him to go, it's been unbelievable but it ain't any more. So come on Pep show us something else.

The whole club has to move on from this way of playing. It's been found out and doesn't work. Time to evolve

Guardiola is even to blame for the kids getting beat. Next it'll be his fault City64 can't use his season ticket.

Did he also get the last Audi from the dealer?

The kids have been brilliant all season, not really playing anything like the first team and winning 20 odd games on the trot and performing very well. Unfortunately they played a bit like the first team today and it didn’t work.

Just missed too many chances and Villa with less chances put theirs away. Shit happens and sadly did in a final where we were below par. 20 wins in a row does suggest they know what they're doing.

I very much doubt that Toure completely changed the approach of his team for the final. They won 20 straight which suggests he was doing something right. Disclaimer I don’t watch the U18s but how many posters here do? Doug certainly.

Toure doesn't manage them.

I up to Mase. I see Kolo is assistant manager. The point remains they were coached to 20 wins in a row and the league title suggests the coach was getting things right. One disappointing performance doesnt change that.

From what I've read the standard of opposition hasn't been anywhere near Villa. You only need one team to know how to play against the sideways and backwards passing and Villa knew how to do that perfectly, in a final where it mattered.
More importantly there's no Plan B when City comes up against a team that knows how to counter that tactic, and that's from the Men's to the women and to the kids. We don't have a plan B at any level - that's worrying!

Pep has used various different systems. Conventional back four with wingers wide, full backs as wingers with a packed central midfield and balls over the top to outwit high pressing man to man marking. He hates losing the ball upfield because he knows that end to end play beloved of fans doesnt suit the players he’s got.

Are you serious? When we're playing using Plan A and it's not working he rarely changes the tactics during a game. We've stuck with the same system ALL SEASON despite teams working it out.
I know we joke about Pep Lovers on here, but that's beyond anything ridiculous, to not be able to see that he refuses to change it when it's not working. Beyond bizarre
