It’s odds on isn’t it .

One won't be Stones as he will be angling for a new contract but your point is valid. Guess it comes down to how serious we want to take it. As I said above, we could use it as pre season for the newbies assuming we have any

I can't see how Stones will be angling for a new City contract, unless he really is thick. He is lucky he got the long extention to his original contract. Done sod all the last two years.

I've just read that Stones has been at the england training camp in Spain. Must have been the cabaret. Cannot fault him when he's fit and in the zone. Trouble is......

I know that I was upset at what was happening between November and April in the main but I've still renewed 3 seasoncards. The amount of shit about how hard these professionals work is taking the piss. If you dont like it, don't fucking sign up for it.

For a tournament with obscene tickets prices and obscene monetary rewards, it's objectively hilarious that our games will be shown live on channel 5.

He's saying that they will have no time off, then plays a friendly game for Switzerland against Mexico in usa, why didn't he have the last 2 weeks off as foden and other players and come back next week b4 they go to USA

I don't think they can just say no to their country if selected. Bizarrely it would be FIFA punishing the player for not playing in a friendly to keep himself fresh for FIFA's new shiny tournament.
This Club World Cup and these international games are going to fuck up players all season long with niggly injuries. Club season finishes at end of May, internationals till mid June then CWC possibly to mid July then club season starts again mid August. Where is the rest period, the time to regain fitness and freshness. Top athletes need a season and an off season, to play 12 months solid is extremely difficult but now having to do it year after year is almost impossible.

^^ Agree in the main with Ayrshire. My original point to Akanji and the likes comments are don't moan about the lack of rest and then turn up for your country. All our engish players opted out of the squad due to CWC and have, in the main, two weeks downtime.

Its becoming clearer and clearer that FIFA do not give a fuck about players welfare, that needs addressing .

There is no reason to stop fitness training on holiday. In fact , if you stop it makes it even harder to get back to fitness with each passing year.

Agree Zuri all professional footballers should be used to an 'off' season where their daily / weekly routine will be less intense and taxing. The issue we and other teams at the CWC have is other than the 2 week break that our english boys have had, we're straight back on it in the warm weather of the states with additional games. Even if we bow out early, we should then have minimal downtime before we're back at it for next season followed by a summer WC. Could work in our favour early season as we could likely benefit but look ahead to the season after and the squad are going to be fucked. I do sympathise but stop moaning about it in public and do something at a higher level to stop it

Correct

But as always there are two choices.

Choose to play for your country or not
Choose between your club or your country

If you don’t like it, play football at a lower level where demands are lower or choose a different profession. And of course none of them will because they are on a very lucrative gravy train.

As a working man who can only dream about the lifestyles these guys have, I have fuck all sympathy

To be fair to the city players, they would have a rest though. Tuchel started Henderson last night !

Which , by the way should lead to instant dismissal !

Said the exact same thing re Henderson starting yesterday! The fact he was even in the squad should have raised serious concerns.

Tuchel will make England fans long for the return of Southgate. He is that shit

Yes, but is it all a cunning Teutonic plan to get England to lose in the semi finals again and Tuchel walks away with a new Audi hybrid (well , you can't sell electro autos atm).
