Spent months in Bangkok without once visiting PhatPhong, sorry to disappoint you. It is a very small part of a very big city, slightly bigger than Soho but not much. Thailand is quite the family destination these days which you sadly wouldn't have a clue about as you would be straight off to the degenerate areas. It's visitors like you that give the place a very unfair bad name.
