That sounds promising if true - I guess this sort of thing is quite common (basically not quite ironed out all the creases in the contract)

Why the hell do these things drag on so much.

City~: "heres 80k a week, you get 10k per goal bonus, you get 2k appearance fee. If we win something you get 100k, if we dont get in champs league you can fuck off for same price we bought you for deal? oh and otherwise a release fee of 100million"

ED "no deal"

City "ok 90k a week with the same, deal?"

ED "no senor no deal"

City "ok fuck off then we'll just buy Torres"

ED "...............................ok ok ok, I just make a joke with you mister, so where do I sign"?

Cheers mate. Sounds like it will happening. From our point of view, I like the fact that we are trying to get best deal for our Club.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Well the rumour that he could be starting v Arsenal sounded ridiculous to me anyhow so we have 13 days to get him signed if we're desperate for him to play v Wolves & 20 days if we feel we can't do without him v Aston Villa. Doubt they're exactly panicking about it.

But this still means the problem is about money. I would have thought he is on a big pay rise, so it's still a disappointing snag

Mate, I didn't even bother to comment on Arsenal story. There was no way deal this big would've been done by then. Never mind him getting used to his new surroundings and players around him. I expect this to go on for couple of weeks still.

Do we need another centre-forward with Tevez and Balotelli?

If Dzeko does sign, I think it will mean Tevez dropping deep, and I don't like that idea. In the box he is the best. He spends too much time going deep and carrying the ball. He's very good at that, but he can't be in 2 places at once.

Avoid Winter transfer signings as they take 3 months to settle

Imagine the club trying to get 4th with with Tevez injured & Balotelli out of form/strop on/injury flared up (like now) & your initial question will be answered.

Dzeko could play accross the front 3 as can Balotelli & Tevez. They can swap positions, as Bob likes to do, or play in alternate games, as Bob also likes to do. Pick the best side to win each game.

Not only that but another top striker of the Dzeko ilk would allow other things to go on, like resting Silva, dropping Tevez into that role but still having AJ and Balotelli as wide players.
We need another option up front and not just because of injurys or suspensions but to mix up our approach and to offer more depth when we have a lot of games.

May I just ask where you get your info from, are you close to Dzeko or his advisor's?
