Nothing more to add.

It's the same for Bournemouth. They could have scored 5 or 6 but a win is a win

Great to be back on track in the league regardless of the overall performance.

Navas and Yaya looked good today but Joe hart motm, he was unlucky to concede today he had a great game.

All things considered(rags embarrassment) it's been a great week.

As I said somewhere else I thought Yaya did some good things going forward and obviously with his part in the winner but as a central midfield playe (holding) I thought he was a rotal liability as usual and contributed to why Swansea were able to go straight through us at times.

In that first half I thought I could hear Joe Hart regularly screaming at Yaya about getting back into position when we lost the ball. I was at the far end and if it wasn't Joe there was somebody at it all the time and I am sure it wasn't from the stand

Yaya is a lazy fucker for 80% of the match. The other 20% he's unstoppable when he wants to go for it, he is a pain in the backside because we all know how good he can be.

I get your point pal but going back to how static we were up top and no pass options or movement for Silva to do his world class stuff I think our midfield players realised our best option of creating opportunities were from set pieces , Yaya had a few decent free kick efforts plus we scored from a corner and Yaya,s last gasp piece of magic .It was that sort of performance , Bony offers us very little upfront it effects our midfield massively and our style of play , its no wonder we have only scored 7 goals away from home so far this season with Aguero mostly injured , it has cost us plenty of points for sure ......... signing another center forward next month is a priority if we are to win silverware .

Here's a novel idea: maybe he isn't a "lazy fucker" 80% of the time, he's just pacing himself and waiting to find the right moment to use his strengths.

Much like how someone running a marathon doesn't do a full out sprint the whole time. If he were to "go 100%" the whole time, Yaya would resemble many English CMs (Milner, Henderson, etc..). All work rate, but very average end product and nothing special. But that's what many Engliah fans seem to like; headless chickens running in circles with no real affect on the game.

That's ok as long as he isn't given the role in central midfield which demands he does his defensive duties. The trouble is that Pellers gives him that role sometimes and it's a disaster at worst (The Liverpool game) or at best just a problem as it was yesterday and has been on countless other times.

OK then sounds like you agree.I don't have a problem with what he does or can do going forward but unless he is given cover in the middle he cannot just ignore the defensive part of the role or we have big holes to deal with and other teams know that.

As for Bony up top he is not imo the best option when Kun is out. He will score his quote of goals but his all round play, touch etc is not good enough for the way we play. A lot of people think Bony has to play because we paid so much money, it will dent his confidence if not picked bla bla but I think that's crap and Kelechi should be first choice after Kun.

Why do people continually ascribe a role (and the related duties) to Yaya that he doesn't have? He is a deep lying play maker (like Pirlo), not a defensive midfielder. He sets the pace of our possession and starts attacks from further back on the pitch.

He's the outlet pass when our defense wins the ball. and he wouldn't be as effective as an outlet pass if he was always running next to on opposition player. Instead, he drifts into spaces so when Komp/Mangeler/Otter win the ball, they can make a nice 10 yard pass instead of hoofing it long. If he was always marking another player, he wouldn't have the time to turn and keep possession or start an attack.

It's like yelling at a waiter for the food not being cooked fast enough.

Pellers(and Mancini before him) wouldn't continue to play Yaya every game if he was ignoring "his defensive duties". They are both smart managers who have considerable experience. Or how does he still have so much respect amongst other City players if he's always ignoring his duties? The answer is he isn't, some fans just don't understand his position in the team.

We haven't got the luxury of a deep lying midfielder who is not prepared to or can't work off the ball. Sorry. In a two man midfield Yaya leaves an impossible burden for his partner as Pellegrini accepted yesterday at half time. I would never play Yaya without two other midfielders alongside him which means Fernandinho and either Delph or Fernando. No harm in leaving him on the bench now and then either rather than playing him every game. He still has great value for the team on the ball but as he advances in years and with his large frame Pellegrini has to be realistic about what he can and can't expect from him.

Exactly. I get the fact that he is a playmaker but if that all we can expect him to do ( i.e he has no defensive responsibilities at all) he must have more cover and more legs around him because we get far too exposed. If he is a key midfield attacking player and sits just behind the front 3 and never ever gets back then fine. But that's not where he played yesterday or how he was supposed to play yesterday from what I could see which is why there was so much shouting on the field to get him into position to help.

It's not really Yaya's fault but the manager who puts him there. It seemed he had realised it's a bad move to have him as one of 2 in centyral midfield after it had failed so often and most obviously v Liverpool but maybe not.
