I think we'll get him if Chelsea won't stump the money up & I'm dubious that Abramovic wants to spend that much.

Personally I think he's barely a step down from Ronaldo in the diving wanker catagory, so I wouldn't be that disappointed if he went elsewhere.

I'd rate our chances at 50-50. Depends if the player insists on Champs Lge, or wants the £££££££££££.

As Chelsea usually play one up top, and have Drogba and Anelka - neither of whom will sit happily on a bench - I do wonder if Chelsea bidding is just press talk. If not Torres, then we move on with Dzeko I suppose. I'd wager nothing happens either way with Dzeko until we know the outcome of Torres decision as he would be the A choice and Dzeko the B.

May I also add the continued theme of paying £28m plus for James Milner does not seem like a good idea nor does it fill me with anticipation, or is it just me?

I just think he is an idol on Merseyside...the backlash to both him and us would be unlike anything we have experienced so far...Chelsea it would be understandable...they have won things recently and are current PL champions...if he came to us he would be hunted down and killed...I think he knows that...if we would have made CL this year it would be a given...now that we havn't he will not come

If he does it would be the biggest coup in the history of transfers

Even our own fans are living into this hype of players only coming for money now :(. I honestly think they believe they want a chance to be part of the "next big thing". So they can say they were there at the start we we starting dominating the world.

SSN reporting Kaka on way to Prem league, if I were a betting man and I am not, chelsea get their marquee signing Kaka(they need midfield players) and let us sign Torres you see 2+2 does equal 6.

I get a horrible feeling Kaka will be a monumental Robinhoesque flop in the Prem...I reckon we dodged a bullet there

I reckon he may shine again if he gets the love he once had at AC but at the Bridge I doubt he would get it. He did so well at AC as he was treated like a god and that brought out the best in him. At RM they treat him like everybody else. I reckon at Chelsea they love there talisman Fat Frank too much to turn him into there new favourite. So you may be right..

Kaká actually flopped badly at Madrid, so there ain't much hope for him in the PL. I thought he was awful at the WC, not in the same league as Messi and Tevez for example. And Messi wasn't outstanding.

Missed a bullet for sure IBH. Ideal for Chelsea.

I would have been in total agreement regarding Kaka, but watching him closely in the World Cup, I think the signs are there that he can recover & reach his past standard. I recon his problems are injury related & fixing that, with a good period of recuperation, will bring about a big change.

Just to add: If it was true he was coming to the Prem, surely we would be favourites? Lot of money for Chelsea to gamble.

I'm with you Ted, although he wasn't near top form, I saw enough of Kaka at the world cup to reckon he sould be on the road back. We'd get him for less than half the price we were going to bid for him at the minute... especially if it funded Jose's bid for Gerrard. There's no way Gerrard and Kaka can play in the same team IMO.

I'd prefer Dzeko to Torres, and as for Kaka, I just can't see where he would fit in

I agree about him not fitting anywhere but if he is available could we really afford to pass him up?? We would have to change our formation to play all these new players and probably play a single striker.

Talking about Lahm again? Curiously enough, Wenger has voted him into his World Cup team... but hey what does he know eh? ;)

Torres exit talk denied

Fernando Torres' agent has denied making the comments published in the English press on Monday regarding the striker's future at Liverpool.

Agent Jose Antonio Martin reportedly refused to commit the Spain forward's long-term future to Anfield and indicated he could move to another Premier League club.

But Martin insists he did not make the remarks and is adamant 26-year-old Torres, who is contracted at Liverpool until 2013, will remain with the Reds.

"For many months I have not spoken to the England press because their quotes are totally false," said Martin.

"Now is not the moment to speak about this issue because Torres is focused completely on his work for Spain.

"After the World Cup (player-agency company) Bahia Internacional will possibly meet with the player but the truth is that Fernando has signed a deal with Liverpool which is for the present and the future."

It was also rumoured that Torres was set for a make-or-break meeting with Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson in the coming days to discuss his future, but Bahia Internacional sources have dismissed this claim as "simple speculation".

Yeah, what DOES he know. Before Vermaelen, name the last good defender he bought. Oh, and when was the last time his side let in less goals than any other side on top 4?

So do tell me what does he know about defending.

And then go to bathroom to have a quick wank with that Lahm picture in hand. After that you can head to Bayernlederhosensauerkrauts.de.

NQDP are you still trying to say Lahm is not a good full back??

In fact, did you say he would be brilliant on the wing?

I despair sometimes, this player is 3rd fave for the golden ball player of the world cup.

Yes. I hink he'd make brilliant winger. Absolute horseshit for a defender though. You know, they are called defenders for a reason.

Edit. Now that I think of it, many people would hate him as winger as well. He makes Petrov look like hard as rusty nails tackler.
