surely we have to do similar right now.

We've already sold £50m worth of players and lowered our wage bill I am gathering as some of those that left were on the old system of contracts.

We surely knew we had to spend big this summer and planned accordingly. We also know we may face a registration ban so I'm guessing we will not be caught with our pants down.

We are sure to net over £25m on Nacho. Nasri, Manhala and Fernando are clearly going. We will be fine.

People who knew more than you, ie the club, thought the same last time, didn't they?
Soriano should have more recognition for his past achievements
i.e our failure to meet FFP last time. In fact there's a video of him in New York telling everyone we'd passed just before the fine was levied which wrecked our transfer business for two windows.

Didn't Uefa change some rules at the very last minute to ensure that we fail?

Haven't they changed it since when their beloved clubs suddenly needed to spend beyond their means to catch the likes of ourselves & PSG?

They did, but don't let get in the way of a good Soriano bashing.

How come it's widely reported that we are chasing Sanchez for £50m, while at the same time PSG are reportedly preparing a bid of £35m once Neymar is in the bag ?
I personally hope we pass on this one, he's guaranteed starts at Arse, but not with us, and his resulting inevitable long face will not fit !!
I'd rather have Mbappe despite the risk !

I guess Arsenal would rather sell abroad, if it all ergo they'd be willing to take less from PSG than they would us.

Mbarm or Sanchez? Tough question, worthy of a poll perhaps.

I'll spare you the chapter and verse, which was carefully recounted by Swiss Ramble at the time. The short version is we knew we had failed the revised criteria but Soriano decided our accountants were wrong and we could successfully argue/persuade UEFA that we were a special case and advised our owners accordingly. He should have been sacked immediately.

Any chance you could provide a link to Swiss Ramble suggesting that it was Soriano's fault?

It was more than a suggestion but I can't find it, sorry. Think it was a blog comment about Soriano failing to understand what income counted in the break-even measures. His latest is good news though http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/

What happened to that 200M that changed hands in the sale to the Chinese? Is that in the mix or did it just go ex-Citygroup into the pockets at Abu Dhabi?

no chance he's for somewhere else. if we get Zielinski he's going into the first team squad.
we were in for him last summer but he went to Napoli and he was one of their best players last season.

Makes zero sense. No way will Arsenal sell him for that low, and allegedly PSG cannot pass FFP if they also make such a bid.

If Neymar pays his own release clause then surely PSG can bid that for Sanchez and pass FFP

there should be a simple formula for transfers :

wages x length of contract

if a club wants to pay a player 400k week and give him a 5 yr deal he's worth £104m

edit...

should add

4 yrs left £83.2m
3 yrs left £63.4m...

1 yr left £20.8m

Technically that's not income, but capital raising so doesn't really come into the FFP calculation
