Mate, I think what the club say in press releases for our benefit and what the club tell Tevez's agent will be two very, very different things.

I suspect it his agent who was behind this, though clearly I have hardly got my finger on the pulse from here.

Why let it ruin your weekend, people? We are in the hunt for the league title and if Tevez does go, we are better-equipped than any team the world to replace a player of such quality with another of similar quality, if slightly different qualities. And if he stays, we will still have Tevez, which will not be too bad.

I've just had a quick look on twitter and all the top journos from the broadsheets to the tabloids are tweeting their support to Neil Ashton who wrote the story in NOTW. They all mentioned that he is well informed in this area. I have posted once here before Neil Ashton has a source within City who is leaking him the stories. If Neil Ashton writes a story about City. It came from City.

This is my favourite guess too.

What I'd like to know is why, if the club don't conduct contract negotiations mid season, Tevez's agent was allowed to put forward "numerous" requests for improvements and extensions? Sounds very fishy to me, like the club's numerous responses were not accepted.
