Same again. From what we have seen of them both in first team action, Foden has looked the more competent, assured player who fits into our team better. He has grasped his chance better. That’s not to say Diaz isn’t going to be a good/great player. He may be. But sometimes there’s only room for one young guy in the team learning the ropes as two would be too much. And at the moment a Foden is grasping the nettle better than Diaz.

Also, he is a young Spanish lad, has no long term ties to City and if Madrid come calling as they are rumoured to have done, then of course his head will be turned. If he goes, he goes. We get a decent fee and wish him all the best.

As a sidenote, remember Denis Suarez

So we can keep our best youngsters because of Barca and Madrid? That's bollocks mate. The fact is their path to the first team is being hindered by players that aren't any better like Mahrez.

But the point is they aren’t going to play in the first team at Barca or Madrid. Not for the important games at least. The bottom line is they aren’t good enough, just like they aren’t good enough for our first team. Hindsight might show in two years or three years that they might be, but we are fighting for trophies now and like I mentioned, I believe there’s only room for maybe one academy lad at a time and at present that lad is Foden.

I get you don’t rate Mahrez, I really do. For our record signing he hasn’t as yet done nearly enough to justify his fee. But to suggest Diaz should be picked ahead of him is naive IMO.

I’ve not seen the 2nd half NB, so can’t comment on his performance.
But from what I’ve seen of us and not just him individually so far, I would have been quite happy for us to have kept the money for a Fern replacement and to have given Diaz a chance.
Diaz like Foden has played our game for s number of years and has all the skill Mahrez has. I would suggest he is possibly less predictable too.

That is not to say Mahrez isn’ta decent player and I do hope he comes good, but currently even on a good day I think he slighty unbalances us.
