Why? A smile and a handshake after a match and a reported dust up with Mancini? No way could Tottingham match his wages.

He'll stay.

I'm pretty sure he'll give us one more season (based on tea leaves and my gut)

Just a gut feeling Daz. I don't think him and Bobby get along too well and he'll be further down the pecking order by the time we've finished shopping. I'd like him to stay but I'd say it was a pretty sure bet that he'll be on his way.

Put it this way; would you allow Spurs to have Craig Bellamy? If so why?

Can't really answer that as I'm not Bobby and I don't know what the relationship between them is like.

What I will say is that I think his effectiveness last season is heavily over played. I thought he was pretty ordinary from christmas onwards, bar the odd game, and he went missing in the last 5/6 games when we needed him to step up.

I'm not saying that I don't want him in the squad, I'm saying that I believe Bobby will let him go and I won't be too fussed if he does.

Last season, there were only two outfield players who a manager could put in the team & know exactly what he'd get from them; Bellamy & Tevez. DeJong I suppose comes into that category but he doesn't change games. Nobody else could be trusted from one game to the next. Nobody. Almost every good moment in any big game involved one or both of those two. They ran themselves into the ground & when they ran out of steam late in the season, who stood up to the plate to take over? Nobody.

Now we're talking about giving one of our top players, as a gift, to a side that's already better than us & replacing him with complete unknown quantities. Imo if a manager lets one of those players go to our biggest rival & replaces him with an unknown quantity, just because he doesn't like them personally, he's unfit for the job. It would be a catastrophe of Swales/Allison proportions, he'll be a thorn in our side for at least 2 years.

I don't believe for one second, that Mancini is the kind of bloke who would give Bellamy to Spurs on a plate.

Ted, I can't see this happening either. For one Craig Bellamy won't get the wages he gets anywhere else. He's already said on record he wants to be a part of the successful period of City and as you stated Mancini aint gonna sell to one of our competitors which if you go by the season's end, Spurs are ahead of us as a team. I also think he'll be a great impact sub this season as I don't think he'll play as regularly as last season but I could be wrong. I think a lot of the 'mancini and bellamy don't get on' rubbish is all paper talk and I think even if they didn't, Mancini knows Bellamy is a very good player that gives his all which seems to me is the type of player that he seems to be signing or going after. I agree that both he and Carlos were our best players last season and we need to have more of those type of players to, as you say "step up to the plate when they run out of steam". Looking forward to the season already and I think this year is the year we win a trophy. Maybe not the premiership but a trophy either way.

That's the point; Bellamy said when Hughes signed him that he expected the best players to come & that he'd "clean their boots" if neccessary. Who would want to be chasing a fully fit, rested, Craig Bellamy coming on for the last 30 mins to get on the end of Silva's through balls?

I think we're going to win something this season too mate & it wouldn't surprise me at all if Bellamy scores the goal that does it.

i have a slightly different view on these Ibra / Drogba runours

It is about the future of Torres who I think wants to leave Liverpool but where would he go?

Assuming that Inter is not a choice, there are only 3 places:

Barca, Chelsea and us.

Problem for Barca - they would need to off-load Ibra both to help fund the Torres bid and to save themselves a Robinho(esque) problem - so without that sale they are a bit stymied on going for Torres

Problem for Chelsea is similar with regards either Drogba or Anelka

So if these 2 clubs do not solve these problems they probably cannot go for Torres and therefore Torres's choices are us or to stay at Liverpool

So - just why would we help either of these 2 clubs out by taking their problems off their hands - probably some truth in the rumours - but only in so much as the selling clubs would like to do the business

The Torres saga will probably drag on well into August - if we do not get him Dzeko would be my 2nd choice - way ahead of either Ibra or Drogba

I was just about to say something similar - problem about Bellers (not with him) is that people make judgements based on his 'perceived' personality - especially the tabloids

In fact Bellers made a number of quotes along the lines you mention - including that he knows that we will sign top top players and that he would struggle to be more than a squad player - but he realises that this is his chance to win things so he wants to be in the squad

Imagine what an impact player he could be for us - and that actually might suit him best

I still think he will play regularly next season with the amount of fixtures we will have now with the Europa to contest.I must say thats a good call,i think being used as an impact player would be a great idea for Bellamy.Hes a fantastic player but his ability to play a consecutive run of games seems to be over it was obvious last season that we were looking after him, resting him when needs be.Hes still got an amazing burst of pace and could haunt defenders coming on to beat them for pace in the last 20 mins of a game but i dont think he will be short of game time anyway its going to be a busy season coming up i think.

I hope Bellamy stays for another season, he has really grown on me and I would be really annoyed if we sell him to Spurs especially if it is only for 6m which is less than half of what he paid for him. :(

Allowing Bellamy to leave wouldn't bother me however allowing him to leave to spurs would piss me right off. We shouldn't be strengthening our rivals no matter how big we are getting.

Let's say he's determined to leave and is adamant that he wants out, how do we get rid without him going to one of our rivals??

How won't go abroad with a young family, he's on record as saying that. What do you suggest?

It speaks volumes of our proggresion when it seems any of our cast of will strenghten percieved cast off. Bellamy SWP Ireland Ned and Richards would strengthen any of the sides that finished below us and 10th in the leauge. We cant get hung up on strenghenting other teams. Unless in the case of Milner we are giving them hard over inflated cash to buy 3 or 4 players.

Taking my blue coloured specs of for a seconds, I'd still stay if I was Bellamy. His knee's are shot and he cant last a full season. Who better to be playing for than us right now in that postion. We have a large squad and a large fixture list. We can nurse him through his injuries when it matters and if he remains fully fit for any lenght of time he gets in my team every time.

Bellamy has stated he wants to win trophies, well the ONLY club he will have a chance to do that in the rest of his career is City.

We just accept offers from non rivals and if non come in then you can't be held responsible the player should be aware of this and understand.
