Beefymcfc wrote:Just watched MotD and thought I'd look at the form table in relation to Swansea. Firstly, I've gotta say that they've had a real tough run of games of late. After playing Norwich away they then went on to play Everton, Chelsea, Villa, us and the Rags. That's some run of games where they only got 1 point away to Villa.

That led me to look at the Rags form as I seem to remember Moyes telling us that they had a tough run as well and even though they are sat 3rd in the table, behind us and Chelsea, the games they've had are risible compared to what others have had to play. Looking at the oppo's form over their last 6 what sticks out like a sore thumb is that 5 of the 6s league form are all down at the bottom of the table whilst the only half decent team they played beat them comfortably (I thought) on their own manor.

Villa - 16th
West Ham -14th
Hull - 15th
Norwich - 19th
Spurs - 4th
Swansea - 20th

What was telling about this game is the pre-match talk that Swansea could possibly get a result at the Swamp. When, in modern footballing history, has the talk been about a team who had not picked up a win in 6, possibly go on to beat the Rags in their back yard?

Whether it was a genuine claim to give Swansea a chance or it was certain elements bigging Swansea up for the purpose of lording the Rags acheivement up afterwards, I don't know, but it is telling that they can even make the ascertion.

Assume they didn't try and claim rags are back in title race. Was there a mention of the 4th place race?

To be honest I didn't really listen to the post-match mate as they don't have much to say usually but I think the talk of the title has now fizzled out (unless they beat Chelsea next week and everything will change). I didn't even see if they questioned the 1st goal because, as always, they'll put it down as part of the game and brush it under the carpet. That goal was a game changer for me.

I read a piece from Sky this morning and was funny to see this in their summary:

Talking point: Can United qualify for the Champions League?

absolutely. draws with fights, brawls, red cards, and injuries. Don;t want the rags to ever win. We need chelsea and arse to not win.

Quick question to anyone who say the athletico - barca game: Whats barca's biggest weakness and do we have the resources to exploit that weakness?

I dozed off after 30 minutes but from what I saw in that time, they just could't break Atletico who were pressing very well.

Play like Bayern last year, like pressing hard and being incisive and quick while attacking and imo, they are ripe for the taking. Milner and Fernandinho would be excellent players against them.

I didn't see the recent Barca game, but I completely agree with that. Bayern played them at their own game but with stronger more athletic players. Seems strange to say it with all the flair & talent on show, but I recon workrate could be the thing which wins that tie for either side.

The other problem is Messi though. If he was on a top day, then neither Bayern nor Chelsea would knock Barca out of the Champions League; he will beat them on his own. We can't factor for what he does, just hope he's not at his best.

If he is, we're going out.

Can rags qualify for Champs league? Yes, they can. It will take a big fuck up from dippers, spuds and everton collectively for it too happen though. Add to that all of Bacons influence and favours will need to be called in together with Shrek and rapist returning from injury. A tall ask.

Will they qualify? Probably not. Fingers crossed they don't but get Europa. Just enough to keep Gollum for another year when the slide can really start and gather momemtum

I still get goosebumps and can't help but cheer the final goal.

Have you got a link to that or was it just a recording?

It's on page 26 of the match highlights on the MCFC official site, or...

Just seen Adam Johnson scored both a free kick and with his right foot yesterday?! Since when could he do either of those?

Messi and neymar came on in the second half and instantly made them more dangerous. If both had been fully fit and started, it would have been no contest imo. That said, Atleti did very well to press and contain. They played with an energy level and tempo that I'm not sure we could ever match, which is what really worries me.

They bleat like bitches when it doesn't go their way, why can't they just take it on the chin when they lose instead of blaming the ref etc. The British managers seem to be the worst offenders.

Adam is a cnut of an individual but that was a classy equaliser from Stoke.
So this is how it feels to be City,
This is what it means to stand tall,
This is how it feels when our club has no debt at all.
