Foden was majestic.

Quite frankly, couldn't careless about the performance, we're in the next round, play shit and pick up the results is a great sign.

As for a striker, there no way top tier strikers are available in this window, well have to wait until summer.

Agreed

Except anyone but Pep would sign a striker. Not a Pep player, a Lineker player, just to put the fuckin ball in the net

If we sign Haaland plus a top quality left back (maybe a left winger but I'm not greedy!) in the Summer there will be no stopping us at all. I think the other point that should be mentioned as how unbalanced the team was due to the back four and shows how crucial at least Ruben Dias is to us.

I was very young, I was drawn against a player who had won the Waterloo, the top competition in the north west, the book makers made him odds on. I played the game of my life, tried my bollocks off, and won.
The point I am making is, this guy thought he could just turn up and win against a park green player, but through concentration and focus I won, that’s what you have to do in all sport.
The player I beat was Joe Bradbury a left hander like me

There’s also the point that you had the best game of your life, and won. Cheltenham were superb, just like you, but didn’t ;-)

Ps. Well done, mate.

Yep. Ake will be fine. Never injured for Ballmouth, comes here and he's never fit. Weird.

Well after listening to Danny Murphys drivel and then reading this thread the amount of posters agreeing with him about the substitutions and how mad they were it's almost like there's a reason that Pep is the most successful manager in history.
Foden was superb, great run and finish by Jesus for his goal and Cancelo made it with a great ball. Gundo as ever in the thick of everything when he came on.
He started with 4 Academy kids, had the strength on the bench in case we needed it which we did. Mendy poor again, THB and Garcia both poor for me. Thought Doyle did quite well, definitely takes a good corner.
Quadruple is still on.

He has been brilliant this year. R Dias and Stones have got all the praise, and plaudits but this lad has been immense, and its sort of gone under the radar a bit.
If only we had his equal or 3/4 of his standard on the left!!. We would have a savage back 4.

Always amazes me when players who are not regular starters don't take the opportunity to show what they can do in games like this. Look at Taylor yesterday, played out of position but got on with it. The least expected on the other side was for Mendy to be competent his strike aside, thought he was largely anonymous. Mahrez, the same, can take a ball out of the sky with one touch, but should be bossing games against a lesser opponent. I dont think we learned a lot yesterday other than we should not be fucking about with the defence

Most footballers , pro or not can take a ball out of the air.

Mahrez cannot take a player on unless he has a four or five stride run up like Sterling . Sterling has a turbo boost though. Even gundo , whom many consider slow can get around players . Mahrez really is our weakest link in Attack.

Mahrez is also a weak link in defence. He offers minimal protection for his full back. Compare his running and tracking back to Bernie when he plays wide right

All true. Mahrez is a luxury in our team. I didn't think that we needed him when he signed, and he has done little to win me over since. We were able to rest Sterling ahead of Tuesday's game and so Mahrez helped in that respect yesterday

I'm unsure of Cancelo as RB. I know he is increasingly popular on here, for hood reason. As a creative player on the right of midfield, he looks classy. I wonder if he might be best suited to that role. Arguably, a waste of his abilities if he plays in defence.

Doyle's crosses and corners were certainly different to what we're used to, but looked a bit schoolboy-ish to me, more hit and hope, with the aim of causing disorganization in the defence, than accurate and well-timed deliveries to attacking players. I think he's got a lot to learn before making an impact at PL level in that regard.
