It didn't go pear shaped at all in the second half. Gala, to be expected had a go. However, there were ample chances to score. Several close chances not taken, could easily have been four or five nil.

The problem is not last night's game, it is the two unnecessary losses and that wierd penalty equaliser in previous games.

Last night it should have been simply a stroll.

Whilst that is true ZC, those results had been and gone and last nights game was the one that was critical. And surely someone in Peps coaching team had seen to be absolutely safe, we needed to better the other results by a goal or two more to make the passage safer?

This is the issue for me. The two losses were against teams we should have strolled home against. And that would have meant we could have put the ball boys and the tea ladies out last night. Our calendar is fucking ridiculous, but we don't help ourselves with looking forward and believing in ourselves to enable the main players to be rested when possible.

This week, if we go 1-0 up against Newcastle. I expect changes and senior players rested.

Was it really critical ? would it be a problem if we had two more games rather than training sessions ?

It might put the fans out a bit , but certainly not the players.

And don't start on about rest - they are so bored the less intelligent amongst them get themselves a tattoo.

Most footballers want to play and not train - at least the teams i have coached and played with take that view.

The issue is that City are still involved in four comps along with the Arse. Sometimes on here , i think people overthink the situation.

One game at a time. Now concentrate on beating Spuds. let's leave Newcastle until monday.

We were told we were getting RM, Benfica, Inter or Bodo in the last 16.
Thought Bodo had no chance but won 3-1 last night

Me too, saw that result last night and was surprised. Still, only a 2 goal lead which I think Inter will turn round in Milan. Gives Bodo something to hang onto though

Id rather we get Bodo Baggins in the next round rather than Inter.

Ideally Benfica smash Madrid and we get them

Can't see Benfica getting through after losing at home.
Bodo would be perfect

And if we win that it's Bayern. Arsenal have the easiest way to the final ever.

Could be RM, BM, PSG then Arse or Barca.
Shades of the treble year.

I think, if we can stuff the Arse in the Carabao Cup then they will implode.

That's where I am too. Win that game and all their old doubts will resurface.
