Blue Moon Rising - The Fans (new trailer)

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Who other than City fans would be potentially interested in our epic climb to fifth place with a bottomless pit of money in 2009/10?

I find all the trailers really good but I have to agree with you. This would be a great idea if released on DVD at the club shop like every season usually is but putting it in the cinema is a bit embarrassing. If say we had beat spurs and finished 4th or beat the scum and got to Wembley then yes it would be a good idea but we didn't do any of those so it seems a bit pointless.
I'd love to watch it (what city fan wouldn't?) but might wait for its release on DVD rather than go to the cinema to watch it.

I think the point you are both completely missing is that, it is pretty clear to me that this film looks to transcend the boundaries of the club that is featured and the fact that it is City related.

To most football fans (...with the exception of the munichs and the rest of the Big 4 fans....of a recent vintage at least) the content should chime and strike a chord. It's about following your team, and the all consumingness of being a proper football fan. It will be largely irrelevant to most proper footie fans that it is about City, indeed it being about City in lots of ways makes it more watchable as some fans would undoubtedly think "what if that was us next"....but the "City story" is pretty unparalleled....even pre Sheikh. It is worth making a film about and I entirely disagree that this would appeal just to blues.

Every clip I have seen just makes me want to watch it more and more. I've shown them to lots of non-blues who fit into the football fan category and they all think it looks bloody brilliant....I'm sure some non-football fans who saw it would find themselves wanting to go to a match afterwards, not a City match, just a football match

It's just marketing, gentlemen. City are on one big ol' marketing mission and I'm afraid it'll only get worse as we push on for global domination. You can't dominate the world without a decent marketing campaign.

ffs....if we did this kind of thing AFTER we'd won something then that would be pretentious...and cuntish

the fact that it features the trials and tribulations of us winning the square root of fuck all is kind of the appeal/point in it

it would not have been picked up by a film company like Buena Vista if it didn't have merits as a film....not a film about City for City fans...but a production in its own right.

Appeal for who? Apart from City fans everyone else is pissing themselves at the fact that we've made a movie about a season that essentially was a bit of a failure.

not true. my everton supporting housemate is well looking forward to watching it, as are many of the matchgoing fans of various clubs i know. it's about the craic of supporting your team imo, not trying to put city up on some kind of pedestal.

Appeal to the vast majority of football fans out there who have time and again seen their own teams be the "nearly men"....whose hopes have been crushed....basically anyone who loves football and hasn't enjoyed the extended success of following a Big 4 team could watch this film and "get it"

I have several mates who are not City fans and who are really looking forward to seeing this.

Not a single person other than a few dickhead munich mates has remotely found it "laughable"

The trailers look AMAZING!!!

For those saying that we've won nothing, that's not the focus. It's about being proud of your club, win lose or draw.

The fact that we won fuck all for me makes it better, as some have said other fans can relate to it more. Had we won the carling cup, no-one but blues would have been interested as the sky 4 would take the piss (carling cup hohoho) and other fans would be saying well so they fucking should have done with the money spent etc...

Also, when we have won a couple of pots there is the chance of good old sequel. " World domination for the blue moon" or "Blue moon risen"

Any other decent titles for the sequel?

The premiere of a documentary about Manchester City was bound to appeal to some cinema goers more than others.

So the appearance of Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan on the red carpet in Manchester last night injected some much-needed glamour into what was essentially a boys' night out.

Keegan, 23, looked chic in an asymmetric jumpsuit - even if it was navy rather than Manchester City's club colour of sky blue.

It is not known if Keegan is a City fan.

The film depicts life during the first full season of Sheikh Mansour's ownership of the club through the eyes of seven of the team's fans.

The film follows the fans around the country and also includes interviews with manager Roberto Mancini and players including Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Garry Cook and Craig Bellamy.

Other stars who attended the premiere included former Oasis singer Noel Gallagher, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, City players Patrick Vieira and Micah Richards, Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter and ex-England footballer David Platt.
Gallagher spent time before the premiere chatting to the City fans that star in the documentary.

'Blue Moon Rising reinforces Manchester City's standing as the most fascinating story in the world of football,' said commercial director David Pullan.

'It will be a lasting testimony to one of the most exciting years in Manchester City's history.'

Fucking Platt wrecking the moment...Michelle Keegan then him, it's just not right.
Also, why does Mike Pickering follow Noel Gallagher everywhere now?

Platt's head takes up most of the flippin' picture!!
Also Keegan is a red :( I've seen her wearing a rag shirt in a pic before.

Who's Mike Pickering btw? I've seen him following Noel around like you say, just didn't know what he actually does/did?

He's a DJ, used to work in the Hacienda and I think he's a manager or producer or something now.

And frankly she could be Neville's cousin with a Rags4Life tattoo across her head, I still would.

..argh, and a bunch of Z-list celebs at the premiere..

..the thing is, that me and my mates go home and away to watch City..we are all City fans on here whether we attend games or not, we all go through the emotions of a matchday and how it affects us throughout the week so why would i want to watch a bunch of guys (and to be fair, they seem like nice guys) when i experienced it all myself? i want to see the season through the eyes of the management, players, staff at the club.. to see what the mood was within the club when Hughes was sacked, to see what happened on the training pitch the day after our Carling Cup semi, to see whether it really affects the players when we win and lose. The City! documentary from 81 was riviting viewing and sometimes uncomfortable because it had footage at half-time of games, at the final whistle, footage of the managers during the game, a squirming Swales in the boardroom but because this is made by endemol, is in the cinema and trying to bring in a wider audience than just City and football fans i fear that the content will be somewhat diluted and it'll end up just being an extended football focus feature! The trailers show fantastic cinematography and it looks fun but it's nothing that we haven't already seen. I'll reserve judgement till ive seen it but i get the feeling its not going to be as indepth as it could have, and i hoped it would have, been.

Pickering is a very big city fan. DJ at The Hacienda, as someone said, also was in M People; he wrote Moving On Up, amongst other things. Comes acrtoss as a very decent bloke whenever interviewed and his passion for City is unswerving. He is a producer/manager now, Ting Tings amongst others.
