I didn't want him to begin with, got used to the idea of him being the manager, then around this time last year got a bit fed up, then when it became clear he was being given another season decided to pack in the arguing and see how things went. Well, this is it for me. 7 points from a possible 21 would be inexcusable for the vast majority of teams, never mind one with aspirations of a Champions League finish and £250million spent.

It's not team selections- they are generally quite sensible. It's not tactical changes- they are generally quite sensible. It's a very obvious lack of a winning mentality, fight or character in a lot of these players. If they're not willing to perform for the manager- well, it makes them wankers- but it also makes Hughes' position untenable.

So, give us a special week Hughes to save yourself or get one of those lovely grey suits pressed and head down the job centre. It's in your hands.

Did not expect that from you ! Judge a season against Arsenal's kids, best in Europe & A Chelsea side who are beating everyone easily ! including in the last month Rags, Scousers, Arsenal. Porto away ! Good job Wenger, was not here we would be up for a Lynching nothing won in 5 yrs, If he wins both does he get an extension of another 2 yrs, What a way to build a club. Everyone is frustrated, but sacking a manager because the media want it and we can delever it again, sums up City for 30 yrs and counting, fans who know it is a backwards step, but say fuck it lets get another manager for the sake of it. And for those who want Jose check out Barca v Inter, the style of play was condemed as thuggary in both Italy and Spain, Inter play ugly hit and hope football, nothing but long ball, kick and body check players all night, Jose is not the solution, we are not Chelsea, we are miles away. What is the surprise to fans 6th with a game in hand it is not made up look at the table. I accept lucky to be 6th with so many draws, As for winning mentalty if the players had half of what Hughes showed as a player then we would be OK, they need to sort themselfs out but this is not the time for sacking a manager, this is the time to sit back and accept the long term is the plan, and the owners judgement.

7th actually.

Now is the time for him to go, before he does any more damage. Its clear by the players performances that they are of the same opinion. He just cant cut it at this level. I dont think that it would be change for change sake, it would be different if he was proven at this level. If that were the case I am sure fans would give him more time. There is no evidence to suggest he can do the job, Hiddink is possibly available, perfect timing imo.

Takes all sorts I guess

Thats the difference between Hughes lovers and haters mate, and if you think he can take us to a cup win and a decent Prem finishing spot I think you are mad, lol.

we shall have to agree to disagree

I feel your pain Ant,

I've lost faith in Hughes but this childish 'Hughes Lover' ' Hughes Hater' bullshit really pisses me off more - and someone who wishes we loose a game or two to knock us out of the cup isnt a true blue IMHO.

Hughes is a weak Leader who is well out of his depth at Manchester City. I'm sick of hearing his well rehearsed excuses week in and week out.

Mark Hughes out!

Anyone who wants City to lose has to have their 'support' questioned HEAVILY mate.

What you're saying is it COULD be for the good of the club if we lost the next game or two. But although I'm sure there was a few United fans thinking the same before THAT FA Cup game, I'd say they're pretty happy they won now looking back.

However, with regards Hughes, this point dropping can't continue and while I don't WANT us to lose these games, IF we do, then it might be the right time to replace him, as it gives the next guy some time to identify a few targets ahead of the Jan window.

Otherwise, he has to be left to the end of the season because getting rid of him in Jan or Feb is just pointless IMO.

What I will watch with great interest is if, like I suspect, Hughes is given until the end of the season will the fans start and turn on Khaldoon as he is responsible for team affairs? We have a history of turning against our managers and chairman. Somehow I think the billions in the bank will play a small part though :-)

  • Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is above question so I doubt many fans will start on him
  • Khaldoon is an interesting character who has the direct responsibility, however I doubt fans will turn on him either
  • Cooke is the next fall guy in my opinion, despite the fact he is no longer in charge of team matters, purely the business matters. I guess that won't make much of a difference though
I'd love to know if Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan plays an active role in HR issues of one of his companies or whether he devolves all responsibility to his chairman, in the case of City - Khaldoon.

Khaldoon has gone on record as saying we are targeting a top 6 position whereas Hughes has gone on record saying he wants to get into Champions League. Again, it will be fascinating if we finish 6th to see what will happen.

if i was in charge at city i would wait till the end of this week hope we win on wedand sat.
and then sack him. because with 250 million spent we should be beating burnley hull and fulhams of this world.
we started off so well, so whats gone wrong ?we have as good a squad as liverpool spurs villa, but sit behind them in the league.
just been listening on 5 live some so called experts on there were saying hughes is deffo on borrowed time, and with, hiddink waiting in the wings citys bosses could already be sounding out a replacement.

so if you were in charge you'd get shut of the man who got us into the CC semi and got us in the top half dozen while beating Arse and Chelsea at ours and losing only once in 18 games?

5 wins Alex. None since September. "Not losing" is NOT going to get us anywhere. It sums Hughes up perfectly though. He isn't a winner. He's a "not loser."

AS MUCH AS IM PISSED OFF WITH HUGHES IM ALSO PISSED OFF WITH HIS BUNCH OF TRAINING STAFF.............THERE IS SO MUCH WRONG WITH US IN ALL DEPARTMENTS IT,S FRIGHTENING - DEFENSE IS SHOCKING,FINAL BALL IN ATTACK IS ALSO FRUSTRATING, WHY DOES SUPERMAN NOT HAVE A POP AT GOAL INSTEAD OF TRYING TO PASS IT 5 YARDS OUT??????

THIS HAS EVERYHTING TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENS ON THE TRAINING FIELD - SO I FUCKING BLAME THEM AS MUCH AS THE MANAGER.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A BACKGROUND HISTORY ON BOWEN AND HIS CREW? WHERE AND WHAT HAVE THEY ACHEIVED AS FOR ME THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB PROPERLY.

I UNDERSTAND QUITE WELL THAT THE MANAGER WILL ALWAYS BRING IN HIS OWN TEAM WHEN APPOINTED BUT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WITH ALL THE MONEY AT OUR DISPOSAL THAT YOU WOULD BRING IN THE BEST OF THE BEST FROM ALL OVER AND NOT YOUR "MATES" FROM MEDICRE CLUBS LIKE BLACKBURN ECT.

HOW MUCH BLAME SHOULD BE POINTED AT HIS STAFF?
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

You do have to question the mentality of some people on here - hoping we'll lose so Hughes gets sacked, or if he does beat Arsenal and Chelsea, sacking him anyway because we drew with Burnley and Hull.

I have decided that I am going to listen to the likes of Owen Coyle and Martin Samuel, they seem to have good heads on their shoulders and don't have any real involvement/irrationality aimed against the club!

I feel that despite your nervousness about Platini's plans, you are coming back round to the view that we couldn't do much worse with anyone else in charge.

imo if we do beat arsenals kids we should do too, with the money spent.
afterall we beat their firt team. so beating of their kids should be expected.
i would,nt rock the boat in a critical week of 2 big games.
but overall our form as dropped off badly over the last 2 months.
and if this is to continue its not good enough.

let us hope that the sheikh sees sense and does not dispose of Mark Hughes, his young manager
. What makes Hughes young? He's 47.

Much as it distressed me to do so, I wiki'd taggart, as so many people seem to think that since he was successful given time, the same should apply to any manager. So, by the time he was 47, he'd won the Scottish 1st division, the Premier Division 3 times, 4 Scottish Cups, a Scottish League Cup, A Cup Winners' Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and was on his way to his 1st trophy with the rags, not to mention his unsuccessful finals. I would suggest that record earned him time. One semi-final with Blackburn does not.

EXCELLLENT example BS76
When he was 48 after an "early season run of six defeats and two draws in eight games, a banner declaring "Three years of excuses and it's still crap. Ta ra Fergie." was displayed at Old Trafford". We're not there yet at the ground even if some are on this board. But be careful what we wish for
