Pizarro looks like the perfect player for us to bring on when teams are chasing the game against us, almost every pass he made lead to a chance, if he gets space he'll punish teams

I just think we play the kind of football that a player like him fits in so well.

On a side note..how fuckign good was Clichy ?

It will be interesting to see if Mancini does give him a start (Blackburn maybe?) to see how he fares. But he does play with his head up and passes well.

Yes Clichy was good tonight.Great to see him stay very alert for that dangerous cross from the left, unlike in the away game where he switched off for that split second.

Maybe that's why pizzaro was brought it, can play the system well and is a bit older to help the younger players in the squad learn to play 'with there head up' as Doug puts it

I actually thought the whole team defended well when it came down to it......Its not easy defending against a shot from HULK....... the players really did put their bodies on the line time and again..I was really impressed.

Good performance seeing out the tie, and being clinical in front of goal to close it out.

On to the next one now, presumed to be Sporting Lisbon. Bring it on.

I didn't think we were very good at all tbh but we dealt with them comfortably enough & created the best chances. Some of our football was dire though.

That's the best I've ever seen Hulk play. He actually passed the ball to players on his own team on several occasions. That's several more than usual.

Aguero was easily motm for me...and not just because of his goal and assist. His motion and energy the entire game
was massive.

The back 5 were great too..especially Clichy.

The only players who I think performed less than the rest of the team were Barry and Nasri. Going forward I didnt see
much from Nasri but he was good tracking back and helping out in defense.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

This was like us early season blowing teams away for fun - I hope that we run to the end of the season like this, so that all the press talking about un*t*d hitting form can fcuk off as it won't matter

I reckon you are being a tad harsh there Ted. I did say when we scored so early we might step back and that's what happened. It took some drive out of our play and gave it to Porto who just had to go for it.But for all we kept surrendering possession we didn't concede many real chances and we still created a few great openings ourselves. It was a sort of control over the game.

Platt was right at half time and we did get better if not top notch. But once we put on the extra striker and maybe Porto tired a little it was all over very quickly.Good solid performance against a very competent side

'Spiderman's right, you're fucking shite' was a great chant right at the end, shame it wasn't picked up more.

Missed all but 2 minutes of the first half, traffic in the city centre was horrendous. It was worth it for that second half though.

I think our passing game was non existent & that was basically because we didn't try to use it. If Porto had scored one of their free shooting chances, I recon this board would be very different today, as I don't think City could have just switched on & started playing, I think it would have been very similar to our other uninspired European games. I think Porto would have been all over us. We got away with being rubbish because of the early goal imo.

Thank God for that. I thought I was going mad when I read this thread this morning. I thought we were dreadful, one of our worst performances of the season. Very negative set up with Aguero left isolated too often. We had no out ball with which to get hold of possession. I was screaming for either Dzeko or Balo. Why we have to look scared against a team we have taken to the cleaners last week on their own midden God alone knows. That was very much the feeling at the ground. Flattering scoreline in the end, but through nevertheless. We look so much better when we attack and play proper football.

I think RM decided to play differently, gave up possession and opted for pressing high, waiting for mistakes and longball/throughpass to Kun. I think it was a good setup for this kind of game and it gives us a bit more options in changing game plan and stuff.
Barry was the weak link I think.

hey, it's difficult to be too critical of a plan that worked and we do have the players to punish mistakes. It's just we seemed to offer them hope and when the goal was disallowed it had been coming for a while. It could have been a hairy last twenty. We know that we are better than them, so let's just play like that and finish the job off in style,

I can't, I mean can NOT, believe someone would have a moan about that. It was just brilliant.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
