Can't agree with the last bit.

Lescott rescued us twice with last ditch interceptions because the other cb had gone awol & left a Stoke player unmarked with a clear run on goal. A better team wouldn't have allowed him to get the ball. The back 3 was all over the place.

You are right on the ball, as usual. Nor I even try to claim that I assess football on even understanding as Yours.

I just wanted to stress my delight at seeing good improvements on an issue that have proved very hard to fix, early this season. Give em time and we'll see an almost perfect defensive set up even on back three set. and Stoke, You teach me, ain't the easiest arena to joust on, let alone with Crouch at the end.

Thought he was takin the piss, everyone else in the studio thought it was a straight red. Top bloke imo.

Yeah, he was. Basically saying that if that's not given as red then nobody understands the rules. Webb making them up as he goes along.

Exactly..Lets see how his twin Twatenberg does handling the rags game.

We've won and him getting a retrospective ban would only help out the arse in a couple if games time? How does that help us? I'd just let it go and continue to call Webb what he is.

Agreed.
I better save a special mention at it for the pre derby presser. something like "we'll be hoping Webb get his eyes on the rules".
His appointment is pretty script, imo. not that there would not be decent options on Taggart's arsenal of black jackets...

It's a genuine question - do we have the right to complain if a card hasn't been issued for the incident? I'm not asking for opinions on whether we should or shouldn't complain.

I cant claim to be an expert of the English Rules, but I think the complaint can be alleged only in case the ref didn't see or, at least, can reasonably sustain to not have seen... hardly applicable there today, imo.
still the last season retrospective ban of Mario spring to mind, as far as referees pretending to not have seen are concerned... :-)

Retro action can be taken if Webb says he saw it but got it wrong, in this case.

He can't claim to have not seen it as he gave a foul for it (I think) - the FA tend to stick by their officials rather than undermining them which leaves the referee's match report as the only chance of justice then.

He didn't give a foul for it. And think of Mario's ban last year. Same ref, same situation.

The best thing about the defensive set up imo was that Garcia showed that he could one day become a decent cb. Whether he could stand up to tricky, fast players on the ground is a question still to be answered, but he certainly stood up to Stoke in the air, & closed down space very well.

When we first tried Vinny at cb, he got absolutely bitched in the air. It wasn't for another year that he became a reliable option. Garcia is very promising in that respect. I noticed that when he scored his last goal, he had jumped a full foot higher than Nastasic, who was jumping next to him. When people ask why Bob swapped him for Nige, today's performance gives a clue to the answer.

Same ref, same decision and it will probably be a different outcome.IMO Webb saw the Mario incident and he saw this one today as well but just got them badly wrong. I feel he was forced by media pressure on the Mario incident but he won't be on this one.

I totally agree where you're coming from with this around consistenty etc. I wish they would punish Webb and ban him for however many games for fucking it up. I just don't see any value for us in weakening Stoke by removing one of their better players against our rivals. We needed him sent off today so that we got the advantage.

Just seen 10 secs of Wayne Bridge. Arsenal player had a shot, Bridge moved out of the way of the ball.

Anyone see Mancini having a word with Carlos when he came off towards the end? Caught a glance but the camera switched away. Thought Tevez was very dangerous today

Stoke should be banned. Such a fucking horrible team to watch.. the amount of times they fouled us and went unpunished was horrendous. I thought we were bad for that stuff. Meh.
Far too happy for Zabs, so glad he got the winning goal! And what a goal it was, not easy to finish like that outside the boot!

Much agree on Javi and comparison to early Vinnie.
Tbh, while it was known that he has the CB role in him and good aerial strenght proved just in the league game at Stoke, after his early perfomances this season I've quite dismissed the even idea, because I felt he lacked the agility, more than the pace, to feature as an effectice CB in the English Game, whereas the role demands promptness to get out the box on turnovers.
Definitelly he has much improved on the original impression and now looks much effective also with the circulation of the ball, when playing his natural role.
All in all, Vinnie's blow apart, plenty of positives from today travel, imo.

btw, anyone knows whether Nasti was just given a rotation rest, or got flu or has something serious?

Nasti didn't train fully on Friday but was out doing simple stuff with Carminati.Nothing serious there and should be ok for Tuesday. Mario didn't train till Friday and Mancini said he had the illness again early in the week so that's why he wasn't considered today. Nasri also an illness and didn't train at all in the week.
