The press will only aggravate him more and it will be left to us picking up the pieces.

Coming to us will be completely contradicting his comments today. Quality player, but not worth the hassle.

Suarez cannot possibly play in the premier league for another team after what he said. It's either Liverpool dig their heels in or they let him go abroad and cash in. After all they still have Andy lumpoflard Carroll at their disposal.

Ability wise Suarez pisses all over the likes of Cavani who everyone is shitting their pants in anticipation of signing.

Doubt he would fit in with our "holistic" approach though so we will just have to settle for second or fifth best. Who wants fucking trophies anyway.

What a weird statement considering where we are now compared to just a few years ago.

I have noticed this myself. All the talk about the signings we intend to make, including the manager, are just so underwhelming I'm slightly annoyed at it all. Feels like we have been going backwards since the QPR game. Plus the usual end of season, no football sulking aswell.

Backwards?

I wouldn't call the potential signings of Cavani or Isco a step backwards. Or even Pellegrini.

Another summer of plan b's like last year would be a step backwards but not these guys. We are talking about potentially getting at least two of the world most sought after players this summer.

Bonkers to moan.

Cavani is a top player, however like Sanchez at Barca, Dzeko with us to link with Silva,Nasri, Isco ? you need a brain , cavani is Tevez for 50 mill. better in the air. Napoli's main man when our main striker would be a fit Sergio.

So how is it that Suarez apparently has a £40m release clause but Liverpool want over £50m for him?
Ive seen countless people on here say that a release clause means that if its met the player is free to negotiate personal terms with the asking club and if they're agreed then the parent club has to sell. But ive always understood it to mean that that figure is the minimum that must be met for the parent club to even consider selling the player but that they dont have to.

The first one, otherwise it's absolutely pointless having it as a clause in the player's contract. If it wasn't, it would just be an asking price, and there is no need for a clause at all for a club to say no.

Makes sense. That is why the claim that Liverpool want more than the release clause in Suarez's contract seemed weird.

Are you sure a release clause exists?

Me? No. I just read it in the papers which is probably bullshit.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez must hand in a formal transfer request before he will be allowed to leave Anfield for Real Madrid. An activation clause valued around £40million must also be triggered before the Reds will begin negotiations with any suitor.

This one caused my confusion:
It had been speculated that Suarez had a £40m release clause but it now appears that such an amount only means Liverpool have to begin negotiations with the bidding club but they are not obliged to sell him at that price.
Instead they will seek a much higher sum for their most prized asset with the Times says they will "seek a club-record transfer fee in excess of £50 million" for the striker.

See, that has to be a bullshit clause.

Liverpool HAVE to start negotiations but don't have to sell him at that price.

Real: We'd like Suarez, we will give you £40M senor(cause they're Spanish).
Liverpool: Well we can negotiate, we'd like £200M thanks.
Real: FUCK OFF!....senor.
