Can Swansea do the improbable?

Rags looked like scoring every attack they had. I hope Swans are gonna be that generous against us

Hence Arsenal are interested..

Good time to play Swansea? Well no they've already played competitive games. Scum have done well ......... Ouch that hurt to say.

They've not done that well. They've done what they always do,been average but clinical. Van Persie's goals were barely half chances and he made them both look so easy.

I think we're mistaken if we think that the scum will just collapse because they've changed manager.

Not collapse no but probably not finish in the top 2 either. And they haven't been clinical they have missed several easy chances.

But I don't see how you can be so confident. They've just won a tough game on paper, away from home, playing very averagely.

I think they are a fairly mundane side with two top players in RVP & Rooney. If City, Chelsea & Arsenal are shit, they will probably win the league. If one two or three of those teams are good, Utd will finish below them.

I have yet to see what City & Chelsea actually are, but I saw Arsenal lose 3-1 today & imo, they would have battered Swansea to death.

I felt they were mundane last season but they just kept winning, with RVP carrying them.
Their reputation comes before them and you see teams and players fucking up things they'd get right 9/10 times. Hence as you said they don't actually have to do anything to win, they just need one quality player.

Chelsea for some reason I don't feel will be a threat, even with Mourinho.

We have a great opener, a mid table side at home with 4 or 5 new signings keen to impress. We need to make a convincing start and hit the ground running.

I dont know, that was an odd game, swansea were ahead on every single statistic bar one yet contrived to lose 4-1. I'm pretty sure this result reflects more on swansea than united.

United were scraping wins by the odd goal in 5 at this stage of last season, and i just think that swansea flattered to decieve with their midfield play today, but with neither the defence or attack to capitalise on the good work the midfield put in.

They could be in trouble on that showing

I didn't see any fear factor from Swansea today though, just very poor quality football. They were ok at passing it, but nothing else & nothing in the final 3rd. Their new signings were shit. Their defending was below Championship standard, individually & collectively & they seemed to lack fitness.

As far as Utd go, Giggs & Co are a year older, Rooney doesn't want to be there & Ferguson has gone. They are not the same outfit imo.

On today's showing, Swansea were the worst side I saw, followed by Stoke but I thought Arsenal, Liverpool & Villa all looked sharper & more inventive than the rags.

In the end though, I agree with Mourinho; both Utd & City were inferior champions compared to some of the earlier teams. City were magnificent for 60% of our title winning season, possibly as good as anyone ever, but average for the other 40%. Utd were plain average for 100% & will be less quality this year imo.

It's upto us to be good. If we play teams as poor as that & don't beat them, then we are no good. Last season, we were no good.

I just think with RVP they'll be right up there. Look at his two goals today. Bad defending yes but they were both difficult chances which he gobbled up. With a player like him they don't even need to create 'good' chances, he looks like scoring every time he has the ball.

He did at Arsenal. Imo, the Arsenal side he played in a few years ago, was much better than the Utd side he is in now.

Won fuck all.

The rags were not good. Swansea were awful at the back defending like a under 9s side. Not worried one little bit at all.

Saying this through gritted teeth but that Welbeck goal was brilliant and I didn't think he was capable of that! Anyway less of then and more of us on Monday!

Moyes - ‘I also reminded Danny Welbeck that it’s his duty as a Manchester United striker to score more goals and he’s already got more in one game than the whole of last season’

This is probably the funniest quote ever, gollum reminds a striker he is supposed to score. ROFL
