Manchester City target Mauro Zarate as Alexis Sanchez nears Barca deal

Read more: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/8 ... z1PvXumPqF

Udinese confirmed that City offered the highest bid for the Chilean attacker, but the player’s heart is set on a move to Barcelona, with the deal ’80 per cent complete’.

‘At the moment, Barcelona are on the verge of completing the final details of the move and we could say that it's basically a done deal,’ stated Udinese's Spanish representative Quique Pina.

‘The deal is 80 per cent done and we're working on the remaining 20%.

‘The transfer will be worth an amount in the region of €45 million [£39.5m], a figure close to the initial valuation of the player. This fee included some variables and one player.’

Now reports from Italy are suggesting that Roberto Mancini has focused on former Birmingham hitman Zarate as an alternative to Sanchez.

It’s believed Mancini has eyed the Lazio man for some time, and after the 24-year-old’s impressive campaign in Serie A, the Italian is ready to finance a £18million bid to prize the Argentine away from the Stadio Olympico.

Zarate is a good player but not worth anywhere near £18 mill.

£7-10 Million at most.

Probably all bollox though. This time of year is so very tedious.

Fair play if they fork out 40million for him. Insane amount of money but what the fook do I know.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Adebayor off to Zenit?

Emmanuel Adebayor is a target for Zenit St Petersburg and will be allowed to leave Manchester City if the Russian club produce a suitable offer for a player who appears to have no future at Eastlands under Roberto Mancini.

Adebayor's difficult relationship with Mancini led to him joining Real Madrid on loan midway through last season and City are hoping to arrange a permanent deal to get the striker off their books.

Zenit are the first club to register a serious interest and City are waiting to hear whether the Russians will follow up their initial inquiries with a firm offer for a player who cost £25m when he signed from Arsenal two years ago. City will have to accept a substantial loss on the 27-year-old but there remains little desire to keep Adebayor at the club regardless of the uncertainty surrounding Carlos Tevez's position.

Adebayor has not helped his case with a series of critical newspaper interviews and the club are keen to reduce their wage bill at a time when they are trying to fit into Uefa's financial fair-play regulations, a consideration that means England's wealthiest club will not be embarking on the kind of spending spree that has previously occurred under the ownership of the Abu Dhabi United Group.

Up to a dozen players could leave Eastlands this summer and it is the club's refusal to pay over the odds for their main target, Alexis Sánchez, that partly explains why they might be unsuccessful in luring him away from Udinese. A delegation from City has been trying to rescue the deal over the last 48 hours but might be facing a losing battle against Barcelona.

Rags have tied up a Young man.
Didnt know this about him.

He scored 30 goals during his time at Aston Villa and is also renowned as a chief creator. Indeed, in the last five Premier League seasons, only Cesc Fabregas has provided more assists.

Pretty swift that yo.

Should be Bobby's number one priority imo. We need some serious pace in the attacking third.

big time...we really need this little sanchez character, and maybe someone else as well. We overcame our lack of pace last season with some graft and good fortune. We might not be so lucky next term.

Agreed we need speed,if we don't get sanchez we need two wingers.we need another striker to replace Jo with speed.modric would do or another creative midfielder.if boateng goes I'd prefer samba to cahill.

I find him hilarious actually. Not only is his blog complete garbage, which generally is the case of 99.99% of blogs, but all the shit there is so poorly written and filled with typos that it's just funny.

Also, bonus points for use of "EPL".

Keep up the "good" work lad.

I agree NQD, funny stuff.

There's always one acting like a silly bollocks at this time of year, spices things up round here though really.

Next blog JHE#1, write about our renewed quest to sign Jermaine Easter, still gutted Pearce didn't bag him. Slipped through our fingers that one :(
