Italian sources suggest Udinese have accepted City £35m bid for Sanchez, but the player refuses to go anywhere but Barcelona #mcfc

All merely speculation atm, guess you can't blame him for gunning for barca if he is, likely they will win most competitions they enter in the coming years. That said I like my players to actually want to play for us, call me old fashioned.

Barca's pet newspaper came out with that story earlier today. Yet to see any other sources with direct quotes, just people repeating it.

My thoughts also. I would like to think given the number of meetings with Sanchez's agent that city have had, cookie and marwood would have got assurances of Sanchez's willingness to join the club.

Can't believe we would slap a solid bid in if we had been told the player wasn't interested.

No we wouldn't but you can bet your life Barca have been chirping at him constantly to try & get him to refuse City's advances. If they succeed then it's just a matter of whether the rags top their bid, which they've shown no signs of doing so far.

Just read Ashley Young has been having his medical at the swamp today, likely to be announced as signing tomorrow.

Can't imagine they would bother getting in a bidding war now given they are getting Young and the price is likely already beyond what they were looking to pay.

Didn't one of the top guys at the club just say we've got a good relationship with Barca? I can't why we'd want to try anything on if that's the case.

Good relationship doesn't mean they'll just roll over and let us take there targets.

We're fighting in the same league as these top clubs now, going after only the creme de la creme of players.

Frankly awesome.

The MEN appear to have as much inside knowledge at City as I do. I assume Chris Bailey must have left on bad terms, as they're now forced to repeat stuff you could find on newsnow 24 hours earlier.

Still seen no quotes from Sanchez or his agent saying he only wants to play for Barca, just one of the Barca newspapers saying it and that he promised his adoptive father on his deathbed that he'd go there. Goebells at its best.

If you asked Sanchez would he like to play for Barca, I'm sure the answer would be yes and why not. That's like being asked if you'd fancy a night with (insert name of favourite bimbo) - of course you would, but that doesn't mean you're not happy with your other half. Especially if you were asked before you'd even met your other half.

If Sanchez has truly refused to have anything to do with us, you would have thought there would have at least been a dignified retreat by now eg: 'City pull out of Sanchez chase' etc. Can't see why it wouldn't have been announced already, just out of pure courtesy. After all there would be no malice involved, so no reason why Sanchez & his agent wouldn't just put us out of our misery quietly, giving us chance to make a dignified exit.

The fact we've heard nothing suggests he's thinking about it imo, whatever bollox ends up being spouted if he goes to Barca.

Not necessarily. If the deal hinges only on Barca stumping up a bit more cash, it's in his interest and Pozzo's to keep City hanging around just enough to keep the fucking catalans honest. Sanchez has no incentive to push us away until he gets what he wants, i.e. the green light to sign for them.

Just a few minutes ago Gino Pozzo, son of Udinese chairman, told to Sportitalia television Sanchez never turn down any English club.

Good news indeed Renato, however was interesting to see city apparently deny having a bid accepted, according to our twitter friend, Stuart Brennan.

Tempted to just delete newsnow and twitter and only reopen them on the first day of the season when the dust has settled and take it from there. It's driving me mad.

Alexis Sanchez just posted this on twitter
