My mate stands at the end of the bar in Wetherspoons trying it with the barmaids, but without much success.

Ted Hughes wrote:Just because it's cropped up again on another thread; talk about Milner not getting games being a reason for not signing, is bollocks.

Just an example of big games Milner started this season: Arsenal h, Arsenal a, Chelsea a, Chelsea h, Spurs h, Bayern Munich h, Swampdwellers h, Roma a, Barca h & he was on after an hour in Munich.

If he goes, it's not because he isn't playing.

i agree. i'm a big fan of james, but for all of his efforts he does not possess the technical quality of a top player.

even if he is feeling that he hasn't played enough, which seems like a strange thought, he is really a squad player on a top side.

he can start every match for a champions league side/contender in another european league, sure. maybe that's what happens. we would miss him though still.

however, yesterday he miffed his chances when they were there with his crossing, in particular, but it's not one match performance, but what we would need if we are going to have a chance against the best.

Can't remember the etiquette for digging up old threads, so I'm going to go for renaissance.

A liverpool supporter I spoke to yesterday put forward the following viewpoints:

1. Milner is in City's top three performers for the whole season. Aguero, Silva, him. Nobody else. I raised him Demichelis, but he countered this with a comment that the number of times that Milner has had a game changing impact put him in the top 3.

2. Milner is THE best English midfielder around today.

3. Milner is in the top 5 midfielders in the Premiership. Hazard, Sigurdsson, Cazorla, Silva, Milner.

He went on to surprise me by saying he didn't want Liverpool to sign him, although he thought it was inevitable they would, but his praise of Milner was impressive.

No Hart in the top 3? Does he watch football, he mush have a season ticket like the one below to be so knowledgeable.

I would swap Milner for Barkley, so I disagree on the best English midfielder. However, your mate is a scouse red so I have no doubt he completely dismissed this possibility.

I would disagree with him on the top 5, Matic, Fabregas. Sanchez, Ozil, Oscar, Coquelin, Erikssen, coutinho, Mata are all up there too, I think he is being a little narrow minded to say he is in the top 5, top 10 maybe at a push and I rate Milner,

I am amazed he doesn't want Liverpool to sign him, especially when they are not exactly overflowing talent!!

Imo since all the transfer talk started about him a couple of months ago he has been gash. Also when he has started this season it hasn't exactly been an amazing performance either. He does seem to play better coming off the bench but I'm sure like all players, he wants to start.

If he goes, I will be leaving this forum too unfortunately.

Not too unfortunate, as you were never a City fan in the first place then.

If he has spoken to either Liverpool or Arsenal then these clubs have made illegal approaches. Clubs from the same country are not allowed speak to players who's contracts are expiring until the third week of May.

Vinegar accused us of breaking the rule (in his roundabout way that he does) when the Sagna speculation was doing the rounds last season.

He moans about everything so it matters little what he says.
But Milner is 'gone' and has been for a while now.

Everyone is saying this, yet nobody in the media serms to have settled on where he is going.

This is not a straightforward decision for Milner. For a start, he would probably want to have some idea who our manager will be, before signing to play for him.

Am I going senile, or up until around the end of January, I'm sure we were all moaning like fuck for the undead cunt to play him more.

I know it's gone to shit since then for him, but earlier in the season he didn't let us down and put in some key performances
