Fabrizio says Pep has approved Gundo return but decision up to Gundo who will obviously have other offers. Does he want Turkish football or the Saudi money? We should be favourites. The key is Barca letting him go on a free.

If his Mrs was arsed about Manchester being a dump then she’s not gonna go Turkey. Goats tied up to trees and kebabs for every meal. That’s Turkey, not Manchester.

Also, if he's leaving Barca due to financial issues, Turkey is hardly the place he'd want to head. Can you think of a single former PL player who's gone to Turkey and seen out their contract in full and received their wages as promised?

Zaha already wants to come back

Oxlade Chamberlain went last season and there were lots of rumours linking him back to the PL this summer.
Only difference with Gundo is his parents are Turkish so there is an affiliation.
I'm sure he'd rather return to us though.

Pol Ballys of the Athletic says Pep and Ilkay have spoken and crucially Bar a would let him go on a free. Personal terms to be discussed.

Don’t know how reliable this guy is but supposedly Ilkay personally rang Pep a few days ago and promised he’d be let go on a free. The stars are aligning…..

The other side of that is that he'd not want to fall foul of Erdogan and his policies, especially if he's not playing for Istanbul Basaksehir. Just look at the downfall of Hakan Sukur as an example of what happens if you cross his path. Even Ozil, the most outspokenly pro-Turkish member of the footballing diaspora, only lasted 8 months at Erdogan's club before suddenly 'retiring' 3 months before the end of the season.

I honestly can't imagine Gundo and his wife being able to live any kind of glitz and glam life there, or even being able to hop over to Dubai for a weekend with Salt Bae: one whiff of dissatisfaction about his paycheck being 4 months late and the media will hound him out of the country.

Not the most reliable outlet but it only confirms the general drift. Get him in Txiki!

Ilkay’s agent in Manchester to agree personal terms. Things are moving fast.

This would be great, not only to have a leader back in the dressing room and a bloody good midfielder. But also it shows other players here that the grass definitely isn’t greener. I’m sure Gundo would come back and tell them horror stories but I’d imagine his Mrs would also be telling the other WAGs to know how lucky they are.

Brilliant business this.

The excitement about him coming back is a wee bit over the top. Imagine if we signed Musiala or Wirtz.

His error has cost us 55m! It's called Nunes. We wouldn't have bought that nonce had Gundo extended his contract

Next season will likely see a big midfield purchase. Kevin may move on and Bernardo too. A lot depends on whether Pep extends for a couple more years as to who we get.

Barcelona are the last club in the world who should ask us for any money.
Take some of them from the Ferran deal.

It would be so good if he was at least presented to the crowd on Saturday. Hopefully get a few minutes. I’m going to the match so I’m biased!

I'm less than convinced but Pep and Txiki seem to think it's a good idea. Firstly La Liga isn't as intense and the first time round it took a season to adjust here, with all the usual insults from some fans.

Then he's older of course. But when it's all about squad rotation I guess it's a free shot.

But what an absolute shower (to quote the late, great Terry Thomas) Barcelona are

Equally, is he better than Nunes? Yes. Is he better than Kova? Yes. Would McAtee learn a lot from him? Yes.

He was one of Germany’s best players at the Euros. In his last game for us he scored to belters against the Rags.

A couple of Barca games I watched last season I thought he was bang average
