Former Barca wonder kid Gai Assulin (19, Israeli) is with City this week. Partly for playing trials and partly for medical tests as he had a knee ligament injury 2 years ago. He's quit Barca because, although fit, he wasn't getting into the first team squad.

Didn't turn up for a Blackburn trial a few weeks ago because they're shite, but is in Manchester this week with his French agent to meet City.

Lots of sources in Spain taken up by the People yesterday.

Gai Assulin?

What a name

Canal Street loft for him

Bet he'd take you up...on that.

On a serious note though, what do we have to lose in having a look and letting him see if he can impress. Certainly sounds a bit more fit for purpose than our old friend Nashat Akram

Inter Have Plenty Of Talent Aside From Mario Balotelli - Massimo Moratti
Moratti resigned to losing SuperMario...

Inter president Massimo Moratti has given the strongest indication yet that Mario Balotelli will join Manchester City at some point this week once the clubs agree on a fee.

The Nerazzurri, City and Mino Raiola, Balotelli's agent, are all working to bring the long-running saga to a fruitful conclusion as trading continues.

And Moratti has resigned himself to losing the Italian striker, but says his team would cope with the eventual loss.

"Inter have many talented and important players aside from Mario Balotelli," he told Sky Sport Italia.

However, when asked to spell out when the axe would fall on a deal the chief remain silent.

The latest reports claim City are locked in a tug of war with the European champions over the transfer fee.

They are reportedly offering €26 million plus a series of bonuses, but Inter are expecting €30m plus extras.

However, all parties want a deal to be concluded soon, and thus they could meet in between offer and demand when push comes to shove.

Sky Sport Italia claims a conclusion is expected by Wednesday, with the striker signing a five-year deal worth €3.5m per annum.

Real Socieded losing interest in bid to sign Jo

Real Socieded directors admit they are no closer to agreeing a deal for Jo and are starting to lose patience.

Discussions between the Spanish outfit and Manchester City have been ongoing for some time, but an agreement is yet to be reached.

Jo is currently surplus to requirements at Eastlands, with the Blues' squad laden with attacking talent.

They are, therefore, keen to move the Brazilian on, but will not be parting with the 23-year-old on the cheap.

City are believed to have paid out some £18million to lure Jo away from CSKA Moscow in 2008 and will be looking to make some return on that investment.

Sociedad have a tight budget to work with, though, and are in no position to table a big-money bid.

With that in mind, they are ready to drop their interest and turn their attention elsewhere.

"The subject of Jo has not been discarded but has become more complicated," said a club director.

The arrival of experienced frontman Raul Tamudo at Socieded has also made a deal for Jo less of a priority, but coach Martin Lasarte is still short on options and further firepower needs to be found if the club are to avoid a relegation battle in their first season back in the Primera Liga.

Give him away, save money on wages. We have not paid 18 million for him anyway. No doubt at all it was a small up front fee with huge add ons on appearances, our success, brazil caps, goals etc etc

What's this I hear that we have offered more than Real for Maicon and that's why they've dropped out of the running?

Everywhere mate, although I do think Maicon isn't interested in us yet, Jose trying to get the cheapest deal going.

Maicon wouldn't be too surprising an addition in the next coupla weeks, tho you never know.

They all hate us when we start courting them, and then they see the light. Why would he come to England? Just for the cash and the shot at glory. Nothing wrong with that. We're building a squad that looks incredibly good on paper, but need some leaders. Maicon is a leader.

cheers

Maicon is getting on a bit I understand, whcih means neither club (City or Real) will pay what his club wants (32M?). That's why he's still there.
