We didn't have any real width either except when Johnson came in (for one side) and we have no penetration whatsoever. Although Ireland has been shite this season I feel he isn't being utilised properly. We should use him as the link man between the strikers and midfield. We were playing this formation today:

---------------------------Given----------------------

Zabaleta---------Boyata-------Toure--------Bridge
--------------Vieira--------De Jong----------Barry

Johnson-----------------------------------------------

--------------------Tevez----Adebayor---------------

Very poor.

Totallly agree with you. But who/how do we fix the broken link??

I might be overexaggerating here but I think we can kiss a top 4 finish goodbye this season. We needed to win this game or at the very least get a point...

The only positives for me where Johnson and Vieira, they both have to start the next game in my opinion. I think it was wrong to take Bellamy off though, he should have taken off either Barry or De Jong.

What an absolute pile of shit performance that was.

We've played two decent teams and lost three times.... but the worst part is that we're far more negative now in our approach - something I was scared would happen.

This is a fucking joke...

Under the last guy we couldn't quite figure out how to "win ugly". Now we know how to lose ugly.

Hull played a cracker - we played poorly - thats what happens in football - even to great teams

I just wish every one would stop pressing the panic button every time we dont win

Sometimes you have to respect the other team and what they did - hull played out of their socks today - and against chelsea

I just want to make the point that rome will take a few years to build - yet half the posters on here seem to think that the measure of our progress and ambition is an away game against hull??? A very very good hull.

Hughes would have deffo got us the draw though - fact

Place Ireland behind the strikers. We are in need of a playmaker in general and I said as such at the start of the season.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."

I agree, though, the negative shit has got to stop. For all the talk of Liverpool and the Spurs being better than us,
we have to look at the reality that we have a new coach and a lot of new players. Quick thoughts that Ireland is totally
out of place and that Johnson and Vieira looked like good pickups.

What a fucking shit set up!!! I thought Mancini was supposed to be a good tactician????

First half it looked like this to me...

----------------------Given------------------------

Zabba ------Boyata-------Toure-------Bridge

----------------------De Jong ---------------------
---------------------------------Barry----------
-----------------Ireland----------------Bellamy

-----------------Tevez-------Ade---------------

So crying out for width and could never spread the play and stretch them due to our lack of options, so we ended up narrow and they stretched us...so we change it to this....?

----------------------Given------------------------

Zabba ------Boyata-------Toure-------Bridge

----------------------De Jong ---------------------

Johnson-------Viera----Barry------------------

-----------------Tevez-------Ade---------------

Still unable to spread Hull...

Until the last 5 minutes when we finally had balance with Rigsby on the left and Johnson on the right...

by which time it was fucked because we couldnt go 3 passes without giving the ball away with a miscontrol or sloppy pass or gave away a stupid free kick and they were set up to deal with whatever we threw at them for 5 minutes.

I'm depressed.
Somebody ate my grapes...

Stop trying to accommodate all our millionaires in that midfield, and play 4-4-2, with a right winger on the right, and a left winger on the left

Football isnt a complicated game.

Fact is Vieira should have started in a game like this - type of game he revels in - to go 2 down to that lot is inexfuclinscusable period

We've got to stop being so complacent against teams that raise their game against us - you heard the stadium at the end, it was like they had won the league or something.

Adebayor coming back seems to have upset the balance. Revert back to the line up that beat Blackburn.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.
