Sanchez has been compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo to give an indication of his potential and for that reason Udinese hope to make as much profit as possible.

City are reported to have lodged the highest bid for the 22-year-old, while European champions Barcelona are said to be offering a money-plus-players deal including Spain Under-21 international Jeffren.

FFS enough. Just bid for someone else

I think this is probably what cookie and marwood are thinking about now.

I'd give Sanchez till the weekend then pull the plug on the deal if he and udeni are still bolloxing about.

Time to start getting serious on our alternatives now! Mata, Hulk, Yes please!

If City & Barca pull out, Utd will sign him, they are still in there.

We pull out, Barca pulls out and scum sign him for max 30 mil. The Udinese board is playing around with all these clubs with this yesterday to Barca, today to us, tomorrow to scum plan, because they have the stupid idea that we want him at any cost and they want to pull from us an outrageous bid.
If they want around of 45-50 mil for him and another huge price for him and his agent, then the bid could go up to, let's say, 60 mil, for a player that is young, doesn't have experience and we don't have the certanity that he will be a Premier League star. If i recall, in the early days, Old bacon face paid max 20 mil for Tranny and remember that in those days the bids where huge, like Figo or Zidane huge. With 60 mil euro we can get Fabregas.

At this point Udinese is taking us for granted and imo they can fuck off

I strongly believe that whatever we pay for him will be worth it if we complete the deal. Imagine Adam Johnson if he was faster, an even better dribbler, better finisher and with an excellent passing range. He's bullish too. He'd excel alongside tevez, Silva, yaya etc...it'd be a formidable forward line, and he'll only get better....in my opinion.

I love the way that some people are trying to slate the player for the fact that this is rumbling on and there are (highly highly likely purely media concocted) bullshit stories about him snubbing City/refusing to talk to City etc etc

The guy has said the square root of fuck all. He's not publicly said he wants to go to Barca, or United, or Juve...or City.

It's just bollocks.

If I were him I'd be thinking:

I go to Barca and I am not (by any means) going to play most games....but I'll probably win the CL. It's a huge club, probably the world's number one right now but I won't be anywhere near the main man.

If I go to City I'll have a chance of winning the PL, will start the majority of games and will just play in the CL. Not as big a club but only going in one direction. I've got a chance to be a big star there and do something pretty special.

I'll get paid bloody well in either case....I don't really have too strong a preference either way as both have different appeals

To be honest why would anyone choose playing in Manchester over Barcelona? Given the culture, weather, stadiums etc in Spain.

Because of some of the reasons ant has just given.

Manchester might not be everyone's cup of tea, but these guys are multi-millionaires and can have the lifestyle they want no matter where they live in the world. A flight to Spain is 2 hours away if he really needs to go there that badly for a holiday.

To be fair, Ant - most top class footballers are highly confident in their own abilities. There's no way Sanchez wouldn't believe he couldn't usurp Villa or Pedro if he played well...so I don't think that'd come into the equation really.

...but i hear what you're saying and it could be a factor.

As it is, I think he prefers Barca, BUT he'd still not mind going City. Bit like Silva really. No one could deny that Silva would be at Barca now if they'd come in for him last summer, but he wasn't too hard to convince, and i'm sure Sanchez would be similar.

Let's not be too harsh on ourselves, as major european conurbation, the spark & driving force of the industrial revolution (granted it had its evils) the contributions made to science and many other facets of world development by our collective population over the following century, then I for one value our culture just as highly as any other large urban area. Then consider our modern culture and how much cooler/successful we are than most of the rest of the UK in sport, music, media etc, I'd say we were and are winners.

If you consider the link below and where we currently stand in grand scheme of things in the size stakes at least coupled with the area m2 we are limited to when compared to Warsaw above us for example, then you know this is a place capable of change - you listening Tevez.

If you offered our 1st team squad a chance to fuck off to Barca, almost all of them would go. The same is true of the rags' players. Barca are the greatest team of the current era & most players would love to be a part of that team. That doesn't mean they can't be happy playing elsewhere if that isn't possible though.

If Sanchez had snubbed us, we would have fucked off. He clearly hasn't done that so far.

For anyone else but City supporters that is the truth. Like you said, current Barcelona side is the best team in last about twenty years. They play brilliant football for brilliant team in brilliant stadium in front of brilliant fans. If Barcelona are genuinely interested, that's where he needs to go if he has guts. He has got to think that he can make it into that side or at least try. Otherwise he'll end up kicking himself forever.

Current Barcelona side is an exception. Othewrwise I don't see many better places for top talent than us right now.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

True, if you take Barca out of the equation, I don't think there's anyone else better placed than City to make a real impact in the coming years. The idea of being at the start of something big & creating a new superpower in world football would appeal to me personally, if I was a player.

For that reason, if Barca can't do the deal for Sanchez, I think he'd be much better off then coming to us rather than hanging around.

Agree with Ted and NQDP, it's mnot just those factors either. Spain is generally a much nicer place to live than Manchester, nicer climate and far more cultural.

No. But what do you prefer, to be stuck indoors because it's raining or out on the beach having a bbq?

Being on a beach with a barby is your idea of culture then ?
