Foden getting a lot of stick, similar to how Scholes used to when England lost.

Must be hard for him having to play with absolute turd players.

tbf we’ve given him a lot of stick about his club form, too. he has been worryingly shit. decent game here or there, thats about it, which is not where he should be at this stage in his career imo.

From the limited amount I saw, Foden definitely doesn’t deserve stick out of all those England players.

If anything he ignited them a bit when Southgate decided to start him.

There’s probably 7 or 8 players that should be criticised before Foden, unless I’ve missed something?

Foden completely changed the way we played. His energy and technical ability invigorated those around him, giving them the confidence to play to their ability.

The truth is, Southgate has done well but he is not the person to win things. Because he hasn’t been a top manager he doesn’t have what it takes and is tactically inept. Last night was a perfect example where he’d decided that Maguire would be the source to dictate the play while playing Henderson on the right wing.

Although he’s good at bringing the squad together and eliminated the ego within the dressing room, his shortcoming are there in plain sight.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

i agree he was better than most of them but fairly or unfairly he is held to a higher standard. given his talent and his experience at the highest level, he can/should be doing more imo.

Ball-losing' Foden given 4/10 match rating by L'Equipe following England's quarter final defeat.

Stan Collymore - “The game’s star man for me was Declan Rice, but the biggest letdown was Phil Foden.”

Criticism when it’s deserved, but the above is nonsense. The best player in the world could be playing for England, but if tactics and player choices are wrong, it doesn’t matter. You can’t just single out the best player because you lost, that’s not how it works.

How long before the sheep read the above and then we’re playing Bournemouth away and their fans are booing Foden for not being good enough at the World Cup?

So let me get this straight. henderson gets a free pass cos he’s wank and Phil doesn’t cos he has some talent?

Yeah, he’s cried about being booed at Wolves and said he’s gone through a very very tough 18 months getting paid millions but a couple of people gave him criticism so it’s not fair.

It is possible that England could win the next Euros and/or WC with Southgate as manager. Replace Southgate with a very good manager and it becomes a probability.

1. Henderson has the ball. 2. Foden makes a run creating space for a pass 3. The pass never comes to Foden, Henderson passes square or back (does not anticipate or see Foden's run)
4. Media headlines: Henderson superb, Foden fails.

Kane bottles penalty number 2 under pressure effectively knocking his team out of WC. Media reaction: he has scored lots of penalties for England in the past

Rashford wastes a free kick at the end. Media reaction: great effort, inches away

Bellingham attitude is dreadful. Histrionics all through the France match. He is only 19 but the omens are not good, even if you ignore 'that' celebration with Henderson.

Media were positive about Walker which surprised me.

Bottom line is it panned out as expected, Southgate is not a good manager, he should go, his game time management is criminal, QF exit whilst in charge of the deepest squad in the WC. Third big tournament exit as soon as England play decent team.

I feel sorry for the players. Sad thing is they think Southgate can deliver. The nice guy (which he is) loser is not a winner at the top table and never will be.

Southgate doesn't have the ability to make necessary tactical changes when needed.

I do also think that there’s some terrible England players being made out to be good. Maguire, Pickford, Shaw, Henderson, Mount, Rashford.

Rice is average. Bellingham had 2 good games. What’s his option for changing Kane? Wilson

Southgate picks the squad and the team.
So his mistakes cascade all the way down: his bad squad selection feeds into the starting eleven which feeds into unclear tactics which feeds into appalling game management.........

That is why England have exited the last three major tournaments without winning one. Try playing golf with one hand tied behind your back.

Back in the North West over the weekend, My brothers and i managed to get out of the meal as we heard the roars of "Penalty".

Without doubt Kane did a great job on the Spuds goalie, his work Colleague when he checked his walk , reset the ball and hammered the first Penalty.

On the second penalty, he seemed to be unsure and i think he should have reset the ball again and .... handed it over to another player. That would have really thrown Lloris. However he didn't being the selfish twunt he is. He set everything up all wrong on the second penalty. Just shows you how thick some football players are.

Wilson would have offered something different up top, I rate him. But Kane was never getting taken off, even though he was pretty shite all world cup

So Southgate is staying.
Smart move for him. Why not milking it when you know no one will hire you?
