Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

We've scored 2 away from home. That's enough.

It's been clear since the AC Milan game, that something is wrong defensively.

It's not just Garcia, although he makes it worse. Vinny & Zabba, players we rely on, were shit pre season, Joe Hart was shit, the defensive system is clearly shit & is too much for them to adapt to, this quickly.

Last season Mancini fucked the defence up pre season, now the Count has done the same.

Too much too soon.

Cardiff will beat more big teams at home than just us, they played like it was a cup final and reaped the rewards of hard work, disciplined defending and constantly putting players under pressure - mixed with taking their chances and driving it home.

Zero Leadership for us at the back and we looked like a shambles.

We always miss VC no matter who comes in from the squad, if Pereguini needed a reason to strengthen he defence then there's 3 reasons right there.

But where was our pressing game??? When things aren't going our way the players seem to forget everything.

Hull were magnificent at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season and then just crumbled. This is exactly why you don't want to go to the newly promoted's home arena in their first home match EVER in the premier league. It's just a bad combination. The team and the crowd was sparkling with energy and with that energy they made up all the difference in quality. That magic will fade. Most definitely. But it was predictable that it was going to be in full function today.

I blame David Moyes. Rigged fixtures.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Lescott wasn't very good but was as usual, our best defender on the day, as he was v Newcastle & pre season & he was the bloke who did most of the actual defending & the only person to spot any problems & try to do anything about it. If your mate ever plays in that back 4 at a place like that, the oppo will declare at half time.

The way those last two goals were conceded was criminal. That defence needs sorting out quickly or else we'll be lucky to be in the top six let alone champions. Poor, poor.

And whilst I'm at it, we need to start games with more energy and try and put the opposition on the back foot from the kick-off.

Not qualified to talk about the defensive system at set pieces but something seriously wrong. If Garcia is anything to go by they are marking men not the ball which he never even looked at.But offensively I have never been convinced by Ya Ya running things, way to slow and we lose out on his power and strength. Nasri might be better there.Count made some howlers. Taking Jesus off and not replacing Ferdinandino with Milner at that time was the first. That was the obvious route to open them up with milner, Jesus and Zab.. Second, Cliché should have been told to run and cross or come off for Kolarov. That's why Arsenal sold him...cos he flatters to deceive. And certainly time for Pants to be given a shot. But the main point is this. Ya Ya running things from deep gets us playing crab football and needs some thought given to it.Congratulations to Cardiff for a disciplined performance.

I really don't have much tactical idea about football, but having watched my beloved City many times over the past few years I have two observations:

1 - We seem to try and be too clever around the 18 yard box. The result is that the opposition always manage to shove eleven blokes behind the ball.

2 - When we have a one goal lead we look less likely to win than when the scores are level.

Just my worthless thoughts but I'm really sad after today's woeful effort.

Very true mate, one good thing is that it's the second game of the season - gives Pellers plenty of time to sort the shit defending and the window's still open.

Welcome to the Premier League Pellers.
