Smart move for him. Why not milking it when you know no one will hire you?

I remember Boro went from Uefa Cup finals under McLaren to relegation with Southgate  No club would have him.

There’s plenty of stupid owners and chairmen out there. You only need look a few miles across town to the swamp as evidence of this.

Someone like a West Ham or Everton or Leicester or Southampton or Wolves to name a few would have in a heartbeat. Of course no decent side or one with aspirations of actually winning things would entertain hiring him and of course he would do the square root of fuck all at any of the aforementioned clubs, but that wouldn’t stop him from being hired

A lot of names being thrown about as let downs for England, yet Sterling seems to have escaped because people feel sorry for him. Terrible whenever he played and was then replaced by Foden which improved England.

Time for Sterling to retire and focus on getting his form back for Chelsea, as he’s been terrible all season.

I get a different feeling - Sterling is no longer considered a shoe-in for England's starting XI, which is why nobody's considering him a let down. He's a bit-part player who was never going to be relied upon during the latter stages, and therefore nobody's criticizing him.

True now. He obviously didn’t go into the tournament that way though as he started.

His career is on a downward slope. I think we got his best years and he’ll bounce around teams for a bit now.

He did start the first 2 games, but I wouldn't say he was one of the first names on the team sheet. I think it's plain for all to see that he's a shadow of the player he was a few seasons ago. I agree with you - he'll probably spend this season and next at Chelsea, then have one last big-money move abroad, which won't work out and will involve him spending half a season on loan in Turkey, before returning to England and playing out the rest of his career in the lower levels of the Prem.
