Balotelli's Attitude

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Agree, blue in the face, except that Best wasn't quite the most talented player ever in the English league, that was Duncan Edwards, another footballer who played for Manchester United before they became the rags. But if the bitter sods who post rubbish about Best want to know how good he was, they should ask his mate and rival. His name's Mike Summerbee.

Balotelli is a completely different type of player to George Best & it's unfair to compare the two imo. If Nasri, AJ or Silva scored 20 goals a season, they would be a more relevant comparison. They don't and are not in his class. Messi is the nearest thing to Best in the modern game but both have pros & cons against each other.

I think that if Balotelli shakes off his mentalness, he has a chance of reaching the same level as both the real & fake Ronaldos. Different types of players but just as effective as Best at their jobs.

P.S. Duncan Edwards was shite.

Im not going to defend his tackle on Pardoe.

Oh well I've tried the polite route and given you the opportunity to apologise for your inappropriate abuse of me but you're obviously too thick or cuntish to realise when you're out of order.

For the record:

The only person I could have possibly been construed as of abusing is Mr liver waster himself... however if you're the secret bastard love child of Old Georgie Best Superstar then I would suggest you and your ma need to move on and get over it.

Maybe counselling would help?

a) best player in english football ever was giorgio kinkladze. FACT.
b) Balotelli is better than he was.
c) How many people commenting on George Best in this thread regularly watched him play? Rather than edited TV clips? I hear Afonso Alves is quite good... (yes, i know there are some old cunts on this board but i always wonder how 30 year olds can describe Pele as the best player ever...).

That is all - carry on.

C) Quite a few I would have thought. Similarly with Colin Bell, Best was much better & more impressive when you saw him in the flesh (even on a losing side) therefore it's more likely those who just watched the tv clips would be less impressed. I was only a kid when I saw him but I don't personally know of one single City fan who saw George Best & doesn't rate him amongst the greatest players they've seen. That's not because they're brainwashed by rag propoganda, it's because he was one of the all time greats & sometimes you just have to hold your hands up.

I also went to see him & Marsh play for Fulham at Bolton & Best could have walked into City's team even then. And yes, I did go to see Best as well as Marsh; he was that good. I wouldn't cross the room to see Giggs or C***ona.

because history proves to a certain extent that he was a bad man, and this is supported by available empirical evidence - this is generally accepted by the population.

whether someone is good at football or not -particularly in relation to another player, is a little more subjective in my opinion. take balotelli for instance....

If only there was some sort of device that allowed people to see Pele play after the game was long since over. Gosh darnit why isn't there something like that. Then they could make an informed decision on subjective material.

Kinkladze had moments of genius but if he got clobbered by a particularly rough full back early in the game he'd go missing for the rest of it. Even apart from that, Kinky wouldn't make the top twenty in most neutrals' list of best players ever in English football. (Zola, Bergkamp, Law, Jim Baxter, John White were all better, and those five only took ten seconds.)

Shame you put number 1 as a fact which proves your knowledge/undretsanding of the game of football is limited. That means I can totally ignore number 2.

As for watching George Best I can count myself as lucky enough to watch him live on countless occasions. He was simply brilliant and worth paying to watch on his own. 2 great feet, not bad in the air, unbelievable balance, dribbling skills which are probably better than Messi because he goes both ways with either foot, brave as he was a targeted player by the opposition hatchetmen.
