Mikhail Chigorin wrote:Strange game altogether. We were so lethargic but, in spite of that, I thought we should have had a penalty in the first half and could possibly have had a second.

I also thought things looked to be improving a little when Milner and Rodwell came on but then poor old Zabs got his marching orders. It just seemed a sad way for his outstanding season to finish.

With regard to the goal, I haven't watched any replays so I just don't know but was Joe's positioning faulty in any way, could he have made a better effort at saving it or was he just unlucky ??

As I said, I just don't know so I'm not trying to needlessly apportion blame and this is just an honest question but, from a goalkeeping perspective, was that header saveable ??

Perhaps Sis could give us her thoughts on this.

No I don't think it was. Ball hit in with a bit of pace and he has just redirected it. It's not the first time we have conceded from this kind of set piece this season and thats what disappointed me. Do we ever learn?

Am I right in thinking he was the only player who started yesterday that did not win the league with us last year? I wish the rest of them had looked as gutted as he did.

He was one of the very few who could hold their heads up high yesterday. He will win plenty of medals in his career. Hopefully with us. He is a fantastic prospect.

Did you go yesterday?

I only ask as at the match he looked like he kept getting dragged out of position and I remember thinking at the time it's probably the worst I've seen him play.

To be fair he wasn't helped by Clichy playing one of his worst defensive games in a City shirt - having to cover two positions was causing him no end of problems, but I thought he did alright & there were plenty more more culpable than him

Can you ever ask a question or making an argument without starting it with the phrase "were you at the match yesterday/last year/five eons ago"?

And did you do it at the match yesterday?
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

It has been too sore to post but I have finally plucked up the courage!!
I was sat in the upper tier yesterday and was the only City fan on my feet chanting!! I was severely annoyed with those around me, showing no support for the boys! I even got asked to sit down (which was quickly replied with a "if you want to see then stand up and fucking support your team!"). I was fuming at the lack of support, I don't know whether it was just in my block, but it was rubbish!!
The players just didn't seem to want it which is also frustrating! If we had lost and looked like we tried then fair enough, but we didn't seem to want it!!
Anyway, stopped in Uxbridge, got smashed until 5am and I'm currently recovering!!

Abysmal performance. Ya Ya, Nasri, Silva, Aguero and Tevez didn't turn up Im afraid.

Atmosphere wasn't right amongst the players or the fans, and you could feel it wasn't going to be our day from early in the 2nd half. I spent most of the second half with my head in my hands, stunned at how poor we were. If Id had a nightmare about how bad we could play in a Cup final, it still would have exceeded that performance. Getting piss wet through on the way back to the tube, and a weekend that cost me north of £400 which I really don't have, was complete.

Quick shout out to the guy with the greying hair about 5 rows in front of me in block 132 towards the front. He and I spent the entire first half trying to get people singing and get the Colin Bell song going, but to little avail. Fans were flat yesterday, the team were flatter, the weather was shite and the result and game an utter nightmare.

I never said he was MOTM. I just think in comparison to the rest of the side he performed closer to his normal ability.

Tevez, Aguero, Silva, Clichy, Zabba, Toure, Barry and Nasri were a shadow of their current form. Only the two center defenders, Hart and got close to their recent form.

I was not at the game. However, I may be in the minority here but I believe you get a much better grasp of the game on TV than you do at the ground where you are swept up in the emotion or stress of the game.

Have to agree it wasn't one of his finer performances for us but as others have said Clichy had a mare meaning Nasty had to cover 2 positions at times. In a poor team performance he was still one of the better ones, however. The lad has a great future ahead of him and its good to see his much losing yesterday hurt

Id say you saw the same game on the tv, that I did from block 132. Centre halves and keeper did OK, Zab was subdued but functional, but as for the rest? Meh.

Clichy got pulled all over the place & his crossing from some good positions was shocking. The 6 midfielders and forwards were about as much use as Dale Winton in a pub fight.

Ha. Good one.

Like I said, that is just me. I have watched a few games back on TV that I have been to and had to revise my decision on a players performance in the game but others maybe much better at judging the game at the game than I am. But I do object to the idea that if you were not at the game your view stands for nothing.

Agree on that Ross, totally.

Nastasic looks like a key building block for us. Yesterday summed up our season - success was right there for us to grab, but our big players just didn't turn up. Hugely underwhelming and its an awful day at Wembley when you have two young sons with you as well.

The only plus point is that defeat has saved me spending another £200 plus on a friendly at Wembley in August.

I think the only saving grace for me is that I turned down a ticket. It would have cost me half my monthly budget to make it as I had an exam on the Friday afternoon and another one on Tuesday so I would have lost two days revision time as well. Look's like I made the right call and now have time to bitch and moan on here instead.
