No idea why Navas was not taking on his man on the wing in the 2nd half, even from deep he had so many many chances with the ball coming to him to flick it and run, never took it once, stopped every time and passed it inside or back. Lacking confidence? looked like it to me.

Massive big up to this.

Seriously pisses me off and my lad points it out time after time after time

This wasn't happening earlier in the season.

It has crept back in again & the Count needs to have another word.

That is because Navas or Nasri were taking them, or even Milner. Basically anyone but Silva and we are ok.

All's well that ends well. I'm sure Pants will be given a run now...very cool and collected. Joleon excellent as many have been saying. No one else staked a claim. Jimmie did well once in cm but so awful up til that point . I think he could easily do Garcia and Dinho's role with more aplomb but you can see why the count doesn't trust him with the first ninety minutes...he's been a premier league player for ten years now but often you would never know. Anyone know why Jovetic seems to be a constant casualty.. he was fine v England?

didnt get to watch but followed a matchcast. sounded like an uninspired, boring struggle.

happy for the win and the subsequent draw.

I hope I'm wrong here but Jovetic and Bojinov draw too many parallels for me, both young forwards with glittering records and reputations before them, both with huge potential, and both ex Fiorentina if I'm correct? I sincerely hope that we recover him from his current stuttering availability, as he seems like an exciting player, as did Valeri...

Had a really vivid dream about ten days ago : we beat United 2-1 at the swamp in the League Cup this season - so it look like we'll be doing it in the semi.

Largely a dull game but a win is a win. Geordies at work not too depressed today, 'if Cisse had scored .....'

Best bit was the City fans songs, my favourite being at extra time: 'We're Man City, we'll fight to half-ten'

Edin played well in extra time, garbage for the 90

How many fouls did the ref let those two French guys get away with? Gooffran and Debuchy. I counted about 10 each!

Decent display by Jolean and Dedryk I thought.

Dedryck could have done better in the air but it was his first senior game for a long while and I thought he did well otherwise. I hope he gets some FA cup games at the very least. Joleon was one of the standout performers last night though. Very close to man of the match.

Bloody hoarse this morning, but a thumbs up to the lads and lasses who made it all the way to the NE and stayed until the bitter end. I got in at a reasonable 11:30pm and I live locally!

90 minutes of turgid crap that reminded me of the old days of watching City. As my mate said "this is how we would look if we didn't have any money". Silva came on and suddenly we had options, movement and threat - bloke on the other side of me said in that side Silva must be glad that most of them aren't first team starters - his ball to Dzeko late on was lovely but Dzeko cocked up and you could imagine Silva thinking "why do I bother" - his curler that just went wide was after some delightful left foot trickery was pure class and deserved to ripple the net.

Fans were on good form as we entered extra time with some of the old classics rearing their heads including NQDP and Uwe Rosler (to the tune of Go West by the Pet Shop Boys for those too young - actually that's probably too young for both!) - all very random and the lone pitch invader once the ground had emptied of all but City fans was very amusing - particularly as he offered to take us all on (like a keyboard warrior considering we were in the top tier), then didn't see the steward hareing across the pitch, falling flat on his arse and then being rough-housed off the pitch - all very amusing, no doubt he would have punched a horse if he hadn't been caught.

Just got around to going through the whole game thread ... What? No comments on Dzeko's post-match presser?

Anyone else notice the big kid sulking? Why mention we had a good pre-season when are fucking half way through CL groups, into the quarter finals of a cup and the league is 1/4 done ... oh, wait, he wanted to remind of the times he was playing well ... and then goes on to count all the strikers and how each 'should' be playing and like some of them (him mainly) hasn't played for a while ... showed in his game too, yes I know he scored one and made one but still showed he was sulking for the full 90 mins first, then woke up a bit only in extra time.
