Been very happy with ESPN so far. Pundits are generally good, Hiddink excellent, and I've been enjoying the Italian stuff too.

ESPN is 10 times better than that Setanta shite. No offensive colours and better pundits, Joe Royle, KK, Hiddink etc. No anti-City 'David Dunne' Craig Burley twat either.

Somerset - you remind me of a guy I know who used to say he couldn't afford Sky, then go down the pub every single Sunday and spend 50 quid. Get a subscription you tight bugger!!

Got Sky, just not the additional ESPN subscription - yes, too tight to pay for that! Will actually be down in your neck of the woods (Falmouth) with work for the Villa game, recommend any pubs to watch it in?

Last night during the Valencia v Ath Madrid game, they failed to get themselves a feed without the Spanish commentary on it. So rather than SHUT THE FUCK UP they just kept on talking, putting their commentary over the Spanish and fucking up both. ESPN are fucking amateur hour and they probably think they are tight.

Can anyone save me the bother of finding out for myself if you can pay per view on ESPN? Or do you need to subscribe?

Rarely go down that way mate, but the main street as you probably know is pretty short, between 'the Moor' and the docks at the far end. There's a few pubs along there with football signs outside etc. Can't think of anywhere outside the main town.

Tonight's match will be the first City match on ESPN here in the US. I'll be interested to see how the commentary is...

Am i right in assuming it's the same team that would do the UK broadcasts? seems like the bit i saw from a halftime report of a Liverpool match didn't have English commentary, but..i could be wrong.

cheers

DM the match with Villa next monday will be on ESPN also.

Here on the east coast the game is from 3pm to 5pm, so I've got the DVR set so i can watch it after work - i'll await judgment on the crew until after i watch the first match.

I've been living here in the US a few years now and I have to agree that the only sensible thing to do to American commentary is mute it. They discuss pointless stats and have to dumb it down and explain the obvious to such a point that I find it insulting to listen to. As for that twat Tommy Smyth, I wish someone would put him in an "auld onion bag", with a load of bricks and throw him in a river!

thing is very other us fan I know hates the us commentators ... and they are really horrible. it's like listening to my grandfather talk about computers or digital watches, completely lost.

I much more enjoy listening to the british commentators, although that means it's usually martin tyler and andy gray or somethign like that, and they're cunts.

But if they referred to it as 'football' in pre-match promotion, they'd get record viewers. Until they realised it was an exceedingly long first quarter, at least.

I wouldn't worry to much about impartiality, or ignorance regarding
Man City past, present, or planned future domination of the world:

Mark Stein, one of ESPN's senior writers, on the NBA, is also a die hard
Citizens fan; and knowledge regarding the Premier League
; I have often followed him in online chats, on his feelings
regarding a City win or loss, and he immediately loses
his professionalism and starts getting emotional!!!

Don't worry, he'll stick up for our and. He may even show up
for color commentary!!!

is Stein really doing color commentary or are you just talking smack? he's been a longtime Blues supporter, and i think is based in Denver or somewhere. He usually writes about the NBA I think if i remember correctly. A good writer tho for sure.
